OK, we did the deed -- chose the 1.59 eyeclean Ex/Ex, great optical symmetry though the scopes, 1.2 on the HCA. We picked up the ring last night. I was nervous. My husband was excited.

The salesperson was excited to see it too, and she unwrapped it and said, "Are you happy?" and I looked at it and YES!!! It sparkles, it shines, it has colors...when I move it, it GOES!! The only thing, it looks huge to me (it''s a whole carat larger than my original 30-years-ago stone), but she was laughing and said, Oh, you''ll get used to that pretty easily!

Then she said, That other diamond never made it back.

I was thinking she was going to say it was sold, but no, she said it was STOLEN! She shipped the two other stones back, and when the box arrived, the package had been torn open and that particular diamond (the "firestone" I was thinking about) was taken!!! Too weird...especially when Lorelei just asked me, "How would you feel if someone swiped the smaller stone out from under you?"

I have to admit, it isn''t bothering me at all now. Except, what a totally weird thing to happen!!

Thank you, so much, for all the information and for holding my hand through this, as it were. I am SO GLAD I went with the advice given to me by the experts on this board. Now I have a diamond that looks fabulous. Cut is sooo important -- until now, I had no idea. And this one is eyeclean -- no black inclusion -- and it shoots spectrum rainbows all over the place!!!!

It''s true -- Pricescope ROCKS!! and you people make it happen. Thank you.

Congrats. :)

Wow! It wasn''t meant to be your diamond FK, what a thing to happen, especially after the swiping remark!

But I am absolutely delighted for you and to have been of assistance, please post pics when you can!

Isn''t that totally biZARRE?!!!

OK, I''m trying to take pics, but gosh, it''s really hard! Ha! I have a new appreciation for the great photos I''ve seen on here.

My favorite thing has always been on our landing, as the afternoon sun hits the diamond -- makes little spectrums on the wall. And this diamond does it, but oh, SO much more than the original. I''m trying to photograph that, but it''s very difficult, especially with 2 kitties that love to "follow the dots" on the wall, which ends up blocking the diamond...but hey, we''re all having a blast with this....

And that was positively weird with the swiping comment and theft!

Here are some tips for taking pics. Use macro mode on the camera ( flower icon) as this will enable close up focus. Try taking pics outside, keep the ring and the camera as steady as possible ( rig up a tripod if that is easier) and shoot with the sun behind you as that can give some nice shots. Also don't use the flash.

I am glad to hear the kitties are enjoying the sparkles too, I have one like that - hehe!

Thank you. And Lorelei, you''re awesome. Here''s another, "hunting fire" pic. These are reeeally challenging to take - I don''t have a tripod, but I think I''d like to get one!!
Hope you''re not getting tired of them. Gosh, I took a lot of pics. This one is sitting atop my favorite geode (my other "pet rock")
Pet your kitty for me!! >^..^<

This pic is actually upside down - the light is coming from above, but I like the composition better this way (stone still perched in my beloved geode)

Beautiful stone!

WOW! That is an incredible shot with the arrows, what a gorgeous rock FK and you are getting really good with the pics!!!! One of my cats just loves playing sparkles, it drives him crazy and he throws himself at the wall trying to catch them! I don''t have any pics handy of them unfortunately as I don''t have a way to resize them, I need to get with it!

Thanks. It does red too!!

Nice pics. You're living up to your screen name FK.

Thanks - these are certainly better than yesterday''s pics. I think I could learn to do this! A tripod would make it easier. Thankfully, this camera has Image Stabilizer. (Yes, now I am reading the manual) I did what you suggested, outdoors this morning with the light behind me, but of course the angle of the sun changes and trying to hold the diamond with one hand and take the pic with the other -- must look silly, but it''s nice when it works!

Must be a whole lot harder to get 8 kitties in one photo!! --tee hee -- it''s hard enough getting my 2 in the same frame.

Oh, thanks! I love the fire, the colors. This pic is fun too (my geode has never had it''s picture taken before -- now we''re having lots of fun) Wouldn''t this make a cool ad?!! It looks like some sort of underwater treasure to me.

Thanks, Awesome Encourager Lorelei !!!
I am an artist. And I got my first digital camera for Christmas, but haven''t explored it much. I need to learn Photoshop and all the stuff it can do (yes, I have a manual, but I haven''t read that one either). But I am liking these shots -- guess if you''ve got a decent camera, maybe you don''t have to "touch up" things. (Although I am sure a real photographer would know what to do and how to do it.)
Of course, without a great subject (as in my new diamond, found with the help of the HCA) none of this would work. YAYYYYY for the new "pet rock" and for my husband who wanted to "upgrade" my ring!!!

Very pretty ring, congratulations!!
