Hi, I am new to the site. Can anyone tell me if the price I was quoted is a good deal? I am looking at a 1.28 G color, VS2, GIA certified diamond, excellent polish and symmetry, table is 57, depth is 60.7, and is thin to medium faceted with no fluorescence. I was quoted $8900. Does that sound reasonable?
Also, what is the difference between ideal cuts and signature ideal cuts other then one is GIA certified and the other AGS? Just curious. Thanks.

Do you have the crown or pavillion numbers? Ideal is a term that is thrown around alot...sometimes without cuase. If the stone truely is ideal then it is a resonable buy. What were the measurements of the stone? 9265$ WF is a great cut but a clarity grade higher... If you can get the rest of the information more help can be offered to you.

I don''t remember the pavillion numbers. The measurements were something like 7.01x 7.something x 4.something. I didn''t even think to remember that information. Thanks for your help. :-)

something x something x something = NOTHING. if you can find out SOMETHING about this stone, i''m sure you get more opinion.

Tara,

The others are right; there are famously 4Cs, you have written about 3 of them, and although the price you reference is more than fair if it''s cut well, it becomes simply undesirable, rather than less a good value, if you learn it''s not well cut, and though you will want to know that, you haven''t presented info to suggest you do know that. Where you ask:

...though not sure what you mean, frequently the difference is that "ideal cuts" will fall within a set of standard dimensions for table and depth, and have traditionally been left to be defined as ideal with that info alone, and then signature cuts are effectively options that are taken off the database, seen, brought in house, and kept in house because their cut has been confirmed to be good, beyond those preliminary parameters.

Based on your consideration of this sort of purchase, I''d easily recommend your reading the tutorial above, under knowledge, and gain a greater sense of this.

Of course, it''s all about successfully purchasing a diamond you value. Perhaps you''ve done this already, in which case, congratulations. In the alternative, inasmuch as there''s lots of choices out there, we''d recommend you take advantage of the criteria you can bring to that other "c" of cut, and see if you can benefit from that.

Regards,
