Hello!
My boyfriend''s mother has given us a beautiful ring for our engangement. But, its a little too big for me and we need to get it sized smaller.
He took it to Robbins at 8th and Walnut because we''ve visited them several times and were planning on getting my engagement ring there before we found out his mom had this ring. But, unfortunatly they said that they wouldn''t size it because it was so old and they were worried about damaging it. The diamond is from the 1880s, but I don''t think the setting is that old, and its just a simple solitaire setting in yellow gold.
So...I''m worried about taking it somewhere else where the jeweler might just do it anyway and would damage it in the process. Plus I''m worried about wearing this ring everyday if they won''t even size it for me, but my boyfriend says reseting it is not an option.
Any Advice? I was looking at David Atlas''s site just in case they might do sizing but it didn''t look like it. Also, i''m not sure that sizing beads would work because the ring is significantly too big for me.
Thanks for any help!
