. . . about my search for studs! (Which you all are probably sick of hearing about! LOL!)
2.gif

After two failed attempts at ordering a pair of princess-cut studs from ~ well, lets just say "lesser" ~ vendors, I finally broke down and called Sheerah at Whiteflash. She''s helping me pick out a pair of diamonds, and she''s searching as we speak, and she says she''ll e-mail me some options today! WOO-HOO!!! Yay, Sheerah!!!
36.gif

Now, I have to decide how I want them set. SIGH!
20.gif

As you all probably know, Whiteflash usually sets their princess-cut studs into a simple four-prong basket setting, and I''ve never had a problem with basket settings. But, after drooling over everyone''s martini-set round studs here on PS, I''m not sure that baskets are what I want! Those martinis are GORGEOUS!!!
emcocktl.gif

Sheerah tells me that Whiteflash can make the settings however I want them made. Here is an example of Whiteflash''s stock basket setting for the princess-cut studs: http://www.whiteflash.com/Fine-jewelry/Diamond_Studs/Four-Prong-Princess-Cut--READY-SET-TO-GO_821.htm

And here is an example of some martini-set ones that I found on Overstock.com: http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/14k-Gold-1ct-TDW-Princess-Diamond-Stud-Earrings-G-H-I-SI1-SI2/1735939/product.html?

I''ve always liked the basket settings, but the ones on Whiteflash just look so bulky and boxy, if that makes any sense. I''ve seen mixed reviews here on PS about the martinis, too ~ some of you say you love them, and some say they make your ear holes bigger. Also, I''m worried about the sturdiness of the martini settings ~ I have this irrational fear of one of the prongs just bending outward and letting go of the diamond!!!
39.gif

If it helps, the studs will be about 1.5 ctw (so about 0.75 ct each), I''m looking in the G/H/I color range and the VS2/SI1 clarity range, and they will be set in yellow gold. Advice, please???
33.gif

OK . . . Sheerah got back to me with two possible pairs. Opinions, please!!!

pics?

Not yet.

Sheerah says both of these pairs are part of their "virtual inventory" or whatever, so they don''t have them in-house. BUT, I''m supposed to let her know if I''d like for her to order in one or both pairs and review them for me. Do you think I should have her order them both in, or does one pair look much worse than the other one on paper? I''m SO new at this!
33.gif

yeah, have them all sent in...unless maybe they're all at the same place and the people THERE can take a look before sending it to WF?

Good idea . . . I think I''ll get her to order all four of them in. Even if they are all at the same place, I''d rather have Sheerah look at them herself and tell me what SHE thinks. And, that way, she can e-mail me pics of all four, which I will IMMEDIATELY post!!!

Thanks, Julie!

Thanks, Skippy! I''ll post them the very second Sheera e-mails them to me, I promise! I can''t wait to get everyone''s opinions ~ you guys are always so helpful with stuff like this!
9.gif

BTW, how are you liking your martinis? Are they comfy?
4.gif

Well, I just spoke to Sheera, and she confirmed that BOTH of those pairs are eye clean (according to the pretty stringent WF definition of that term), and they are BOTH available! YAY!
36.gif

I have been sooooo impressed with WF so far . . . Sheera has been unbelievably helpful and friendly! She is ordering the H colored pair for me, and she should be getting them sometime tomorrow morning. She said she will e-mail me 40x pics, Sarin reports, Idealscope images, and ASET images for both diamonds tomorrow afternoon. How''s that for service?!?! WOW!
23.gif

I''m so excited!!! I can''t wait to show you guys everything she''s sending me!!!
9.gif

Yay! All systems go!

Which ones are you going to choose?

Hi, Mercoledi!
35.gif

Well, I told Sheera to just order the H ones for now. I was afraid the I pair might look just a little too warm, since I''m going to set them in yellow gold. If all goes well with the H pair, I''m definitely getting those!
9.gif

Also, the more I think about it, I''m really not loving WF''s stock setting for princess studs, so I think I''m going to have them make me some martinis!
emcocktl.gif

Ohhhh...How exciting, Irish!!!! What a fun project!!! I know nothing about princesses, but I just wanted to tell you, I LOVE the martini-like settings for your earrings. They are so much more delicate looking, and will really show off those baubles in your ears!!! YAY! Keep us posted!!!!

Dani, I totally agree about the settings . . . I just think the basket ones from WF would drive me nuts!!!
32.gif

The martinis look so comfortable in comparison, and everyone here on PS seems to like their martinis, so I''m thinking that''s the way I''m gonna go. I''ll definitely keep you all posted, and I can''t wait to post pics when they get here!!!

LOL! Isn''t Julie evil?!?!

And I know what you mean about considering the I pair if the price difference was big. Fortunately, the H pair was only about $200 or so more than the I pair. One of the main things that bugged me about the two pairs we ordered already from other vendors was that the color looked warmer than it should have been for the color grade stated (G/H). So, I would be afraid that the I pair would really bother me. And, since the price difference is small, I figured why not!

I would have done the same thing! :)
Please post pics!

Definitely!!! I''ll post the pics that Sheerah sends me tomorrow, and I''ll post pics of the finished product when they get here. This is so exciting . . . it''s my first really "informed" diamond purchase, and the first time I''ve bought GIA certified stones! I''m so grateful to PS for educating me!!!

Julie~

I forgot to mention: Sheerah said that all four diamonds were with the same vendor, which is someone they''ve used many times in the past for princess cuts, and specifically princess cut pairs, with great success. She said the VP of WF spoke to the vendor by phone and confirmed that all four diamonds were eye-clean and that all four had a very nice cut. So, based on that, I decided to have her order me the H pair only. If I had asked her to order both pairs, I would have to pay for shipping on the pair I wound up not getting. I''m sure that wouldn''t have been a heck of a lot of money, but still.

Just wanted to let you know that your idea was right on! Thanks!!!
