I am certain many of you are familiar with my tsavorite journey. A while back Swala contacted me as they had located rough and were supposed to custom cut a stone for me but then I never heard back.I did send an e-mail inquiry and asked about the stone but decided it was best not to pursue the matter any further and have been patiently waiting to hopefully hear from another vendor. I have been avoiding all Pricescope forums to lessen temptation as my will is not strong and I need to avoid any new project ideas! Today, Swala got back to me and wrote that there were needles in the original rough but now new rough was located and will be cut within the next few days. Anyway, whatever the story is/was, I should be getting more info shortly and will be posting. Hopefully, the stone will be what I have been hoping for but we'll see.

Congrats! Can't wait to see your stone :)

Very exciting! I can't wait to see what he cut for you.

Fingers crossed that this time its exactly right - and well cut to boot. :saint:

I hope this will be a fruitful lead for you. Did Swala show you a picture of the rough in question? Are you obligated to purchase the newly cut tsavorite or is there a non-refundable fee should it be returned?

Hi Chrono,
Actually, I have been thinking along the same lines as you. I can't be obligated to purchase the stone as I haven't given any credit info. As for a non-refundable fee, that will have to be discussed with Eric. I have been very specific about what I want in terms of cut, clarity, even sending photos of stones I found attractive colorwise that were purchased from Swala (possibly a stone of yours?), etc. so hopefully there has been a meeting of the minds.

If there's anything I've learned from commissioning custom cut stones, it is to get every detail clarified and written down clearly. Presuming this or that will only lead to disagreements later, which leaves a sour taste / feeling by both parties. I would do the same for this transaction with Swala.

Certainly I do not want any sour feelings on either side. I guess I am a bit naive never having attempted anything like this before. I never specifically asked to have a stone custom cut. I do have e-mails that have been saved expressing what I want but return policy or exact pricing was not discussed. I am, of course, a very serious potential buyer but the stone has to live up to my expectations. What an interesting journey this is. At least my dauaghter has gotten a mahenge spinel out of it!

Swala is generally easy to work with but being that they are overseas, I would want to know these in writing:
1. Are you obligated to purchase the stone?
2. Is there a non-refundable fee?
3. Confirm the cost of the international shipping fee.
4. Should the stone need to be returned, is there a US address (if you are in the States) to mail it to? I am leery of sending it back to Africa (things often go missing).

Thank you
