Hi everyone,
I''ve just started looking at diamonds and though I''ll probably end up buying one from WF, GOG, etc. I''d like to check out some B&M locally. Can anyone recommend any reputable jewelers in Charlottesville?
Thanks

Oh boy ... I don''t remember any good ones, but I do remember a thread with a HORROR story about a jewelry store in Charlottesville!

I can''t remember the title of the thread or I''d link to it for you. The gist was a gal had a custom ring done there that was very sloppy & they had a hard time "turning it down" and getting their money back. I do know that they found a ring they loved at a DIFFERENT local store, ... aigh.

Maybe Windowshopper will remember - I think she used to live in Charlottesville & used the same store for something ...

FYI: I think there are a couple Pricescope vendors in Wash DC (not too too far away to shop for such an important purchase!) Quest does custom settings. I think Bill at Icemine maybe? And Tiny Jewel Box has gorgeous designer pieces (prob. better to look than to buy). Always wanted to visit there as I go to DC often.

Princess V bought a jubilee from Harlan and McGuire in Charlottesville (phone number 434-977-8012). She said that they brought out an AGS 0 princess and round for her to look at as well, and she noticed some asschers and ECs. In January, she mentioned that they were retiring, so it''s possible that they''re no longer around, but it might be worth a shot.

help! custom ring gone awry, the thread that Deco was talking about (I think, I just skimmed through it).

You''re so close to DC that you could make it into a daytrip.

Yup, they retired and are gone. I went to their going out of business sale and my mom got a nice EC.

Thanks everyone, I''d heard good things about Harlan & McGuire too, but alas they are no longer. It looks like a trip to DC may be in order, but if anyone has any recommendations, I''d appreciate it.

Quest is in Dunn Loring VA, just outside of DC. They made my setting for my asscher RHR. Nice guys and very easy to work with. I'm sure other's will chime in with more suggestions. I'm not from the area. I worked with them long distance. I have bought from GOG and WF. Good luck!!!

err..how far away is Ice Mine?
