Help!! I’m a rookie here and need some help deciding between 2 stones. I think they both look good on paper but I am interested in finding out which will be the better performer. These stones are from different vendors and are roughly the same cost. This stone will be used in a right hand ring. Any opinions will be welcomed. My current engagement ring is a 1.62 SI1 I oval. In the last few years I have decided that I would like a RB. The two contenders are:

J VS1 0.97 carat
Depth % 61.3
Table % 56.9
Crown Angle 34.7
Star 51.0
Pavilion Angle 40.7
Crown % 15.0
Lower Girdle % 77.0
Measurements 6.36x6.38x3.91
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

Light Performance Ideal
Polish Ideal
Symmetry Ideal

VS
I SI1 (eye clean) 1.01 carat
Depth % 60.9
Table % 57.0
Crown Angle 33.1
Star 52.1
Pavilion Angle 43.6
Crown % 14.0
Lower Girdle % 78.5
Measurements 6.48x6.52x3.95
Culet Pointed
Fluorescence Negligible
Girdle Thin to Medium Faceted

Light Performance Ideal
Polish Ideal
Symmetry Ideal

Thoughts? Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Are you sure the crown angle and the pavilion angle are correct for stone #2? If so, and you only have the numbers to go by, I would choose number 1. Are these GIA or AGS certified?

The 43.6% pavilion angle for #2 isn't good.

Cheat Sheet for RB
Table of 54-57
Depth of 60-62.
Crown angle of 34-35.5
Pavilion angle of 40.6-41

Oops, I typed the pavilion angle wrong. It's actually 41.1. Both stones are AGS. I am trying to determine which stone will have more fire. I think they are probably pretty close though.

41.1 sounds a little better! As far as fire goes, diamond #1 may have more fire. With a CA of 33.1, diamond #2 may face up brighter though. Can you ask the vendor?

Number 1, but I'd like to see a picture of the stone and it's idealscope or ASET images.
