Good deal for a .75 shared prong band?

I found a .75 carat diamond band (8 diamonds in total), 3mm wide, that I think may look good with my solitaire (if I don''t reset it). The diamonds are G in color, and clarity is SI-1 (I''m told they are all eyeclean), for $600. Does that sound good, or should I pass? Thanks

its impossible to say without knowing what type of metal the ring is.

And its really hard to say without knowing the cut information of the diamonds. all Ideal cut diamonds with excellent symmetry will cost a lot more than lesser cuts with lesser symmetry.

14k white gold, and I don''t imagine the diamonds are ideal cut. I don''t care about that, I just want something eyeclean that sparkles. I think the stones are too small to notice the cut on them...no?

it depends on how bad the cut is. while in Japan I did comparisons between a number of ideal cuts and non-ideal cut wedding bands such as this. There were quite a few, one in particular, where I couldn''t notice any difference at all in performance. However, when bringing out the symmetry scope I noticed that the face up optical symmetry of many of those, that one in particular, were pretty good.

So, based on my limited observations as a consumer, while some non-ideals looked fantastic there were a number of others I could see a clear difference in performance. Perhaps there were some variables I hadn''t taken into account when making my observations, but I believe it is important to make sure that the cuts are at least decent.

The diamonds are NOT too small to notice the cut. I have a well cut 7 stone shared prong ring with 7 pointers and they are sparklers. When worn, it looks like a line of fire. If you want them to sparkle, I recommend looking for well cut diamonds, they don''t have to be super ideals, just well cut. Signed Pieces offers well cut shared prong bands in WG at reasonable prices. If you get poorly cut diamonds, the band will look plain white - lifeless.

Thanks, that is all very helpful. I will check out signed pieces and facets.
