Is it eyeclean? the cut looks really good from hca score of .8...my guess is it will sparkle like crazy...even in the dark :)

Looks good to me, have U seen it?

I haven't seen the diamond yet. Was at the jewelers on Saturday and they didn't have this stone in. They called me today and faxed me the cert. They told me the stone was beautiful. I just wanted to know if it was worth my time judging by the specs to make a trip up(4 hours away). Thanks

Is that round trip?

I would ask for a couple of pictures first but, yeah, based on the numbers this looks like it is worth taking a look at. Mind you, I am in process of researching and buying my first diamond so the advice is worth almost what you paid for it.

"A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

P.S. What is your time worth? If it''s truly casual time then no doubt, g.f.i. If you could be making say $20 an hour then thats a $160 + expenses trip. Just food for thought - I''d still take a look. It sounds like a winner.

It sounds very nice to me, I would go see it.

Yeah, it looks great. It's got a shallower pav and a steeper crown, which (IMVHO) should work nicely together. It's a nice size, too. I'll bet it's a killer, and (I didn't do a throrough comparison but) the price seems very good, too. Good job!

Im not at home or id do it but running that diamond thru diamcalc and looking at the office lighting picture would be telling.
A lot of diamonds with steep/shallow combos are ok in direct light but not so great in indirect or office lighting.

The diamond sounds beautiful and, most likely, looks beautiful. The price itself sound fair. Eight hours round trip sounds kind of long though.

Izkid, welcome to the forum

The price looks reasonable.

Here is what DiamCalc shows. Light Return is a bit less than for Tolkowsky proportions. However HCA likes it - 0.8 - it may have more fire - FIC - because of steeper crown and shallower pavilion (it can look darker from shorter distance though).

New AGS grade could not be ideal (0) but '2'.

I see the calculations for DiamCalc. So basically I would be paying for an AGS 2 stone instead of a AGS 0? If that is the case then I think I should wait on another stone that might be a true AGS 0 cut, unless you think for that price that I might not be able to get one once the newer gradings come out. Just a little confused now. Thanks for all the feedback.

It would be awesome for a pendant but not the best combo for a ring.
The difference being viewing distance and angle.
Its what I thought but wanted to see what diamcalc said.
Some of the combos can be better than others in that range.

What would be some better parameters that I should tell them I''m looking to get in the stone (as far as dimensions go)? I basically said SI1, 0 cut, 1.20 carats, H color. I wanted to spend between 6-7 on a 1.20 stone. Is that reasonalble for what I asked or should I expect a little more? Sorry for so many questions, just want to get my moneys worth. Thanks

Izkid, are you shopping online or in local store? In a local store you can compare different stones yourself. This stone might be not bad at all.

Both onlline and at some stores. Problem is that the stores are about 4 hours away near where I grew up, so didn't want to have to drive up there everytime they found a new stone. I wanted to give them some "hard" parameters to look for because I have until really Dec (just cutting it close then though) to get a diamond. So I'm in no rush to just buy whatever.
I wanted a stone around 1.20 size and heard that cut was the most important thing really so that is where I came up with the AGS 0. The H color and SI1 seemed to put me into my price range, but still open to getting a VS2 or going to G color. What would you recommend (or any one else reading) for a good 1.20 size stone? for around 7

Please let me know what you guys think

Thanks

Any more comments?

Izkid, I don''t want to knock out that stone. We only can tell something you based on the information available.

If you cannot see and compare it yourself, I''d recommend you to ask your vendor to eye-ball it for you and give you his/her honest opinion. You also can consult an independent appraiser.

Would that price be to high for an AGS 2 though, since with the new cert''s it wouldn''t be a 0?
