I''m not sure if this is the correct area for my question... But, here goes:

I had my engagement ring and wedding band soldered as well as bumped up a size in July so they would fit after they were stuck together. Now, little miss indecisive (me) is considering having them un-soldered so I can just wear my wedding band. But, in doing this, I would need to have each ring brought down one whole size to keep from falling off when on their own.

So, my question... Is it "safe" to have my rings unsoldered and re-sized again? Both are 14k white gold. Will I be comprimising the integrity of the gold? Is there a limit to how many times you can stretch and shink white gold by a whole size difference?

Hope this all makes sense... Thank you in advance for your help!
I''m attatching a pic just for reference...

Done correctly it is safe. There’s no "stretching or shrinking" in the way you may be thinking: Sizing down involves cutting a small piece out of the bottom of the band and rejoining it. Sizing up involves cutting it and adding material.

While the material itself is not compromised how possible this will be to do (and repeat) depends on the ring style. Simple solitaires are no problem. Channel settings like you have may require adjustments to the diamonds in the band, depending on how much re-sizing is involved. It can be harder to size down than up. Full eternity adjustments are the most difficult of all and sometimes aren't possible without changing the look or layout of the ring.

If you had the original seller do your soldering work I suggest you consult with them again, as work by an outside source could void any workmanship guarantees.
