gold vs platinum

I am considering having a designer piece made in platinum instead of their standard 18k yellow gold. Does anyone have a good rule of thumb how to calculate how much more something will cost in platinum with all other factors being equal?

I think platinum should be around 150% of the gold price, but I''m not an expert.

I''m not sure about custom rings, but the Vatche setting that I bought was about twice as much for the 950 version vs. 18K. -- $2005/$1050
