Going to see standup Lewis Black.....what to wear?

So this Friday night my boyfriend and I are going to see Lewis Black do a standup comedy show at a theatre downtown.

(Very excited! My favorite comedian!!)

I don''t know what to wear because I''ve never gone to a comedy show before. When I watch them on tv, the people are either dressed up, or just in regular clothes. So I don''t know if I could wear a dress, or some dressy pants with a nice top. Or would I be too fancy? I, myself like to dress up for any occasion. But I don''t want to stand out in the crowd like a sore thumb cause I''ve got on a little black dress while some guy next to me has on a t-shirt and ripped jeans.

Then who''s the comedy show?

I guess same goes for my boyfriend. Shorts? Regular ol'' stuff? Or dress pants?

Dreamgirl I saw in some other posts of yours that your from CO, I''m from CO too and I''m going to assume that you are going to the Comedy Works in downtown denver...correct?

If so, I would say that there is no need to get too dressy. I''ve been to a few shows there and most people are in jeans and a nice shirt depending on if your going out afterward or not.

The last time I went was for Wanda Sykes for father''s day, I wore a pair of my dark blue skinny jeans with black heals, and a sliver-ish short sleave v-neck type sweater that came to alittle past my hips...I felt dressed up enough to wear I felt that I was going out for a special occasion...but not to the point where I thought I would stick out.

BF wore dark jeans as well with a buttom up shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

No, actually its an opera house in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

I see what you are saying though. Maybe I will just wear casual/nice clothing or just a nice casual dress. I think that would be fine. Thanks for your help!

I've been to a couple of major comedy shows recently, Jerry Seinfeld at the Dallas Music Hall and Joel McHale at The Majestic.

I just wore heels and dark jeans with a stylish top to both, and I was frankly, right in the middle of the pack in terms of what I was wearing.

Lewis Black is HILARIOUS! You will laugh your booty off!
