Ohhh geez,
Turns out my future e-ring was finished a couple weeks ahead of schedule. Though this is potentially awesome news ... it comes with a big caveat: my FF won't let me see it, not even a picture or a peep until P-day. It's a white gold setting & stone I picked out myself but we had it re-made in platinum. Now, i want to make sure it's perfect and that the setting job is perfect etc, etc ... but how do I do that without SEEING IT! He didn't see the original so he won't know how to check it out like us P-scope babes do ... so ... with his permission, I've dispatched my best friend (who was with me when I picked it out) to do the go-see in my place. We (my FF & I) live 90 miles north of the city and I kinda want to make sure everything's OK before he goes down to pick up & appraise & all that jazz. Here's the list of questions I sent her --- AM I FORGETTING ANYTHING??? She's probably going tomorrow!!!

1) overall, is it beautiful/special/me?
2) how does the platinum version look vs. the white gold? Better?
3) is the stone too high? Too high up the prongs? Too high off the hand?
4) are the tops of the prongs sitting too high above the stone? Get caught on stuff?
5) does the center stone and the new side stones look even in color, not one whiter than the other
6) how does the V sweep of stone leading up to the center look? Clean, even, well-cut?
7) does the ring have fire? Inside light & outdoor?
8) does it sparkle? Inside light & outdoor?
9) does the Asscher look "mile deep"?
10) does the Asscher look symetrical, good pattern, set to flatter its slight rectangularness
11) how heavy is the ring now that its in platinum. Seem comfortable to wear? Substantial?
12) are all the little tiny diamonds white? I noticed on the pave of another ring that one little diamond was black & needed to be replaced
13) is it as magical as the original was ... Does it look good set???
14) what brand/designer was the setting made by? Any matching bands

I know this isn't too fun w/o pictures ... trust me, I feel your p-a-i-n!

Thanks for any input/calming/zen-like thoughts

Deco

ETA: The questions about the Asscher itself are mostly just 'cause it's been a 1 1/2 months since I saw it! My memory's been clogged up by the day in, day out perusal of all the p-scope beauties!!!

Okay ... second thoughts here. Spoke to one of my sisters and she thinks I should totally butt out and not learn anything about it. Ball completely in his court. Anything "off" can be fixed later.

Thoughts??

I think you should just wait and see. You can always fix it later.

I know that it''s difficult. I am the same exact way. My ring is due to come in next week. I''ve been asked to please drop the ring topic (which I have totally been involved until now). FF has asked me to let him propose, to let it be a bit of a surprise.

What can I say. He makes my dreams come true. He wants me to be happy. I have to butt out.

I understand where you''re coming from but like the previous poster (ame, I think) mentioned that you can have something changed later.

It''s not worth a spat or spoiled moment.

OMG, Deco I am SO EXCITED it''s on its way!!!!
