PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO FOLLOW THE LINKS AND GIVE ME ADVICE . I am driving myself crazy! I am looking at Verragio ENG-0276 (or 0262--both the same ring except one is eternity). JETMAL has the 0262 and has photos but I cannot decide between a princess diamond or a round. Her princess is beautiful !The princess (and I hope she doesn''t mind me using her photos to ask these questions) cut is from this link:

My new Verragio!!!!!

The round cut I can only find a photo of it on the Verragio web site and it will not allow me to copy and paste the photo so here is the link for that:

Platinum engagement rings and diamond wedding bands by VERRAGIO

Please help me make a decision (pros/cons) , anyone that might have either of these rings. I have looked and looked for a person who owns the 0262 or 0276 with round , but cannot find them. Jetmal is going to post more photos also today, so I look forward to those also! HELP!!!!

wow ally, they are both beautiful. i think a lot of gals have a strong stone preference, especially when it comes to 2 very different shapes. have you tried on both a princess and a round to see which is most pleasing to your eyes and which one you like on your hand or that you''d like to see there? I love princess cuts but wouldn''t want one for my e-ring so my preference is a round, but most princess lovers wouldn''t usually consider rounds at all

I have not tried on a PRincess diamond. Of course, I cannot try it on with this setting as I was given a viewing with the Verragio rep and I cannot possibly ask for another viewing. PLUS, they wouldn''t have the setting that I am choosing in a princess anyway. I suppose my best bet is to try on a princess in just any setting ,correct? I assume that''s what you meant. Thanks for your reply!

yes, I''d at least go and try to try on a princess in the size you are wanting to get an idea of how it looks on you.

Absolutely agree here...usually that makes up one''s mind for them quite quickly!!

Dont make a decision until you try a princess on your finger.....Just as an example, I love round diamonds on others, but I hate the way they look on my finger...squarish stones look better on me- that is why I ended up with an EC...So go try both on and see what shape flatters you best....

You wouldn''t buy a wedding dress without trying it on right? Same concept. But you should take this purchase even more seriously and do the research BEFORE you buy. Its alot of $$ to spend to not be completely sure...

Good luck!

I am going tomorrow to the jeweler and checking how the princess looks on my finger. I am starting to really like the princess (thanks to Jetmal). Will let you know tomorrow! Hopefully, I will see the new photos from Jetmal by then! THANKS to all of you for your help! (especially you JETMAL!).

Wish me luck in making the decision!

hi Ally,

well, I can't decied for you either! For 10 yrs I had a round center stone. and I was working in the jewlery store when we bought mine...so I had my pick from just about any shape....but it was round I chose. I was happy with it for about the first 5-6 yrs but then I started to covet the princess shape.

When we went shopping for my new upgrade, I came across the Verragio setting and it had a 1 carat round in it. It too, looked just beautiful! But, I knew this time around I definitely wanted a princess cut. So, I did not waver....I was able to try the setting on and the salesperson was able to drop a loose princess stone in there for me so I could get a rough idea.

the only thing I can suggest is that if you do get a princess cut...make sure its a darn good cut, so that it will have all that sparkle that you desire. A Round traditionally will have more sparkle and fire, so its very important to get a good cut princess so that you dont miss out on any of that fire. A poor cut princess can often look like frozen spit

I posted some more pics for you on my thread, but I didnt get many sun pics today. We had bad storms here.
let us know what you decide!

ETA: yes its a good idea to try them on...to see what shape you like best....however for me, it was a toss up between round and princess, they both looked good on my finger :)

I agree with the advice to make a decision AFTER trying on a princess. I thought for sure I wanted a princess. My friend has a gorgeous 1.5 ct princess and after trying hers on I was hooked. Well then I went to try on 1ct or 1.25 ct and after trying on the round I decided I didn''t like the princess as much as I thought. I have a round .92 that looks just about as big as her 1.5ct princess. You''ll know once you try them both...it was an easy decision for me! Good luck!

so Ally...what happened today????

Hello! I just got back from the jeweler! I looked at the Princess and do not like the way it looks on my finger. I found a few round stones that I like. One being 1.5 carat (although the price is not likeable! LOL!)

Anyway, can anyone tell me the difference between GIA, International Gemology Institute ?, or GSA? Any one better than the other? Also, each diamond should have a number laser enscribed onto the diamond. What if you find one that doesn''t? The 1.5 I saw was VS1, G.

ally, well, at least you know now! I belive GIA is the most reputable. And I''m sure some Round experts will chime in, but I do not think ALL diamonds have the laser inscription....only some.

soooo glad you went and tried some on..

I''d stick to stones that are GIA or AGS certified. I''ve never heard of GSA. many stones out there are not laser inscribed. You''d probably be able to come down a bit in clarity and possible color (depending on how sensitive you are). VS1 is overkill IMO.
