I am having a bit of a "love handle" issue going on with my dress. I''ve tried a million different pairs of underwear and I still get that bulge.

Should I just go commando?

I don''t want to wear spanx or anything like that because I want be comfortable. But being nekid under there makes me nervous because my dress is chiffon and sheer.

Is anyone else doing it?

Here''s my dress:

Commando is WAY too risky for my personal comfort level. I''d feel weird commando at a nightclub, much less at my own wedding where I''m already a bundle of nerves.

I''d either do a nude thong/g-string or nude boyshort type of thing. I know VS makes a seamless line that isn''t too bad. If you get the colour and the seams nailed down, you should be ok since the dress is flowy and not too clingy.

Yeah, the issue I have with Commando and even thongs with a dress like yours, is that when you get up, your dress is likely to get caught in your bum cleavage...so to speak.

I literally had to discreetly tug on a girls dress at my daughter's bridal shower while she was up getting a drink because her beautiful dress was all up in her bum for the rest of us to see.

I hate to say that Granny panties are the way to go...but...it's a thought. You can always take them off before anyone...including the groom finds out about them...

I am a huge fan of nylon, not cotton, when I am wearing a dress so that I don't get any unflattering "cling" on cheeks either.

ETA: Or commando with a long slip, that would be even better than granny panties. BTW, I am famous for my granny panties and I prefer to call them "Vintage" panties...thank you very much.

One word: Commando...

Ok, before everyone jumps on me, it is the name of a specific type of undies!!

Linkie They make these awesome undies which are made out of one piece of material so that you do not have any pantie lines. Many of the celebs swear by them. Sooo, they might be worth a try. They sell them at neiman marcus as well as online.

Good luck with your search.. Hope your wedding is everything you wanted and more!

Lol at Miracles and her "Vintage" panties!!!!

Have you tried boyshorts?

I only wear ''vintage'' panties and boyshorts (but they have to be REAL boyshorts, not boyshort thongs). And ditto with the bum cleavage when going commando.

I couldn''t go commando because I''d feel too exposed. I wear great thongs from Target that leave absolutely no lines whatsoever. NONE! I''ll see if I can spy the brand name next time I stop in.

I don''t know what the proper name for them are but I call them soft-stretch-lacey-sort-of-g-kinda--hipster-cheeky-bums.

I wore them with my MOH dress and they were so comfortable. The lace is very soft and stretch so they don''t give you lumps or bumps, and believe me with my curvy figure there was potential for lots of them! They are almost like a half g I guess, but I wear g''s everyday as normal underwear (

I find them really comfy ok! havn''t had normal undies for something 13 yrs, why do I feel wierd now?!)

Anyway back to the point now, they will give you the feel of wearing undies, but they are really light and stretch so they won''t be visible. I bought a few more pairs after my friends wedding and I wear them with my fitted black slacks and formal dresses etc, where a VPL would be just wrong.

I'd give the ideas the ladies have given you a shot Mia. I'm thinking No on the thin dress material commando thing. It'd be drafty too especially in Sf at night ... and I think it would be kinda distracting you know... when you sat, when you stood up.... I wouldn't want to look back on my wedding day and think... my only regret is not wearing panties. Ya know?

I would do a boy leg undie :) I have a pair of bonds (probably something more sexier then this though) that come just underneath the bum and just underneath the bellybutton no muffins and no VPL :)

BTW the dress is beautiful :)

Another vote for granny drawers.

i went commando my one and only time as a bridesmaid. the dress wasn''t an ultra fancy bridesmaid dress. it was a tight-to-the-body beige stretch cotton halter dress. no unders or bra worked with it. it wasn''t so bad.

I''ll tell you that I regret NOT wearing a shaper of any kind under my dress. I couldn''t find the right thing, and my dress lady said I didn''t really need it, so I didn''t wear one. I was totally fine at the beginning of the day, but by the end there are some quite unflattering pictures of me taken from the side that could have been avoided with some spanx!

And really, if you are already worried about love handles, you''ll be even more paranoid about them on the day of the wedding. And therefore less comfortable with nothing than with something like spanx.

have you tried hanky pankys?

and i have to tell you - i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress!!

I''d personally rather wear spanx or some sort of shaper than nothing at all. They aren''t really that uncomfortable once you''re in them.

I dunno--the whole no underwear thing seems a little on the icky side to me (mostly for reasons that are unpleasant to discuss).

First of all, GORGEOUS dress.

Second of all, Spanx aren''t really that uncomfortable. At least, that was the LAST thing I was thinking about on my wedding day! My guess is that the spanx will be less uncomfy than your worry about the alternative.

Just my 2 cts.

the seamless boy-shorts sound like the best idea.

however, i just wore Spanx under a bridesmaid dress and they were actually quite comfy. here''s the key-- buy them at least one size larger than what you need. they will still smooth you out but won''t suffocate you. if i would have bought them in the correct size for my height and weight, they would have had to cut them off me at the end of the night!

I love these Hanes underoos sold at Target called "Hanes Tagless Chiffon". They're so light and thin that you can't feel them at all and there's zero VPL (especially if you wear the boyshorts) and no rid-up. They're 360 degree stretch so they look TINY when you pull them out of the package but they stretch perfectly to fit your body with no lumps or bumps. From what I've seen at Target, they come in high rise ("vintage" style

), bikini, and boyshort. They're pretty cheap, so you can always grab a pair (they come in sets of two) and try them out before the big day. If they don't work, you're out $4/$6... no biggy.

I second this recommendation! I adore my hanky pankys! They are super cute and do NOT leave a bulge (and I usually have a bulge!)

I know there are imitations out there - but for the wedding day, I''d get the real thing!

I have had to go commando on occasion as a bridesmaid. I saw the other girls lines showing right through; some not very flattering and decided it was best for me. BUT the question is- if you are going to be thinking about it all day, or worried at all, then don''t do it and keep shopping around. It''s prob the last thing you want to be thinking about on your day though.
Your dress is gorgeous!! Good luck!

i think j crow already mentioned this, but i think Hanky Pankies shoudl work really well. Maybe the hi cut ones. they are awesome, comfy, and they should not give you any buldge at all.

I'm with everyone on the recommendation for hanky pankys. I swear by them.. They are really comfortable, and the wide lace does not dig in to your sides at all.

Yes, these are so comfortable. I have about 5 pair.

Love handles....you''ve got to be kidding!

You''ve got a lovely figure. You just need some seamless underwear. The dress is gorgeous BTW.

There are barely there thongs that are sold at Saks. They are whisper thin! BTW, your gown is LOVELY! And I can''t imagine you have any love handle issues -- you teeny thing!
36.gif
But Saks has been a godsend in the undie department for me in so many ways. I wear strapless gowns and they have those stick on bras. I love their petals, too!

I also vote for hanky pankies. I wear them everyday. They''re sooooo comfortable and no lines whatsoever!!

Just wondering if you've worn/tried spanx before? I thought they would be uncomfortable, but I have been very comfortable all the times I've worn them. As long as you get the right size/style, they are very comfortable. My vote is for spanx, or at least trying them before you rule them out.

Love the hanky pankys - they are super comfy and you''ll definitely wear them again.

I''m not seeing the love handle issue, especially as you''re so tiny, but if it will help you feel less self-conscious and more comfortable, then by all means, check out all the options recommended here

I went commando. Literally everything showed under the dress. It was a sheath so you could see the underwear band across my hips even when wearing no VPL undies. Yours doesn''t look so fitted around that area though so granny panties may work. It''s worth trying.

Your dress is gorgeous!!

I would prefer commando but I''m not very ladylike sometimes ;and I would probably end up having my legs open during a picture! haha That would be a great picture for your future children to see! haha When he takes off the garter you will have to be VERY careful!! Hmm if you do do undies (wow that sounds off) DONT buy white ones!!!! Try some nude color ones, they will not show through. I''m sure FH would prefer commando!!!
