First off I wanted to thank everyone for all the great info. I''ve been able to get off this forum and website. The education and links to diamond websites and designers has been invaluable.
I am finally closing in on my my e-ring. I have decided to go for the Mark Morrell Petite Sunburst setting. My girlfriend loved the Tiffany & Co. setting and we thought the Petite Sunburst was a comparable, high quality setting made by a great designer. And when I learned Mark is located less than 30 minutes from my home that basically sealed the deal.
I am looking for people''s opinions as to how good of a deal this .82 F VS2 Hearts & Arrows diamond from GoG is. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4132/ Do you see any major issues with the diamond? My goal has been to get a colorless ring in the .8 to 1 carrot range with a great cut. My girlfriend and I thought we''d prefer to sacrifice size for quality as she has size 4 fingers, so the ring would look pretty big on her anyways.
Do you guys think the setting will go well with the diamond? I just want to make sure the stone won''t look overpowered by the setting. Would it make more sense to get a larger stone in a lower quality grade? I''m trying to stay close to a budget of $6k and I know the setting will cost about $1,800. Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.
