Giving out EGL cert number?

This is probably a silly question but I'm trying to sell a diamond ring and and prospective ebay buyer asked for the egl cert number. Is it safe/okay to give that out?

Most any prospective customer will want the report number so they can do online verification with whatever lab evaluated the stone. If identity theft and the like is your concern, no information about you yourself will pop up on the screen after they input the report number using the online verification function on the EGL-USA web site (don't know about the EGL International lab sites; I've never considered a stone with reports from those non-USA labs, but you could enter your own report number there to see what appears).
