Hello all, I am long time lurker, first time poster. I have a good idea in my head of what type of diamond I''d like to purchase for my girlfriend. However, I''d love everyone''s opinion on what I have found and if my selection is a good one.

Feel free to comment either positive/negative!

Thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure it is a nice diamond, but personally, there are more benefits with other vendors on PS. Lifetime Diamond Upgrade really appeals to me.

I like this one from WhiteFlash and with the PS discount it will be $3407. And everything is IDEAL on the stone and there are no VERY GOODS. I want the best for my money and I want ideal. You just cant beat an ACA!!

I am just concerned about the size of the diamond you suggessted, as it does not face up nearly as large.

Am I wrong to be concerned with this?

It''s got good spread for the weight. Meaning your gal will get a bigger looking diamond than the carat weight would suggest. But the proportions are no where near Ideal. This diamond is more a "flash for the cash" type stone.

The visual size appearance is probably gonna come at a performance price. Chances are, this diamond will be very brilliant. White light return. With less fire and scintillation. Sparkly splashes of colored light.

Here''s a link for you about table size and it''s affect on performance:

Blue Nile has an excellent return policy if you find you do not care for the diamond once you do see it live and in person.

Sounds like size is an ISSUE for you and definitely understandable, this is why I say buy from a PS vendor that has a Lifetime Upgrade policy. So, if for some reason both of you seek a larger stone later, you can trade back in your stone and get what you paid for it and get a larger stone. And you can repeat the process forever, with Blue Nile, you get a stone and after 30 days you are stuck with that stone.

Nothing wrong with Blue Nile, that have a great return policy, but no lifetime upgrade policy.

Our .84 ACA faces up so well, that people always mistake it for a 1 carat. Well cut diamonds do this because of the great light return. Unfortunately, Blue Nile does not provide idealscope images to check for light leakage.

Good Luck

The one MWG posted from WF looks to be a better buy for sure!! Are you considering it? It''s a beauty!

I wouldn''t say size is an issue for us. She has told me over and over that anything in the .8 to .9 carat range would be more than enough. There are not financial limits in play here, but I am just attempting to find the best looking diamond for the money.

I guess I''ll have to start back at square one.

Thanks for all the advice so far, I will certainly look at whiteflash.com and others.

I have seen all the debate about ACA and ES, so I won''t ask about that!

I recently got a chance to take out several diamonds of .1,.2,.3 mm difference and so on. I can tell you I was surprised on a close evaluation that I was able to tell a difference in about .15mm difference when holding them next to each other. However, the better the cut the harder it was to tell. But It was still quite apparent. Non theless if they were not sitting next to each other and you just looked at one, put it back in the case and brought out another you would not be able to tell the difference in a .2mm difference. So unless someone you know has a diamond that is .2mm larger then it shouldn't be a problem

I recommend going with someone else who offers more information as well. I made my first purchase with BN, and they are really great for what they are, but on trying out others like James Allen and White flash I found that they are truly EXCEPTIONAL and I am afraid I would never go back to BN again for anything over .30 cts...maybe some earings in the future though.
