Im looking at a 1.21 round cut
G
VS2
Flouresence: None
He gave me a price for $ 8199.00
its GIA certfied and what not.

the setting im getting my girlfriend of 9 years!!! its about time guys wouldnt you say hahaha
the setting is costing me $1500.00
my budget was around the $10,000 range

My main concern is do u think thats a good price for those specs for the diamond? Because i was hoping to go with a 1.50 cart stone but that seems to jump put of my price range plus i want to have a good color and calirty if i were to go bigger.
i was told a smaller though hiher quality diamond can look nicer and bigger than a 1.5 of lower qualities???

Any ideas or suggestions this is a 1st for me so its kind of nerve racking. thanks alot guys!!!

You''d definitely have to lower your color to I/J level and SI clarities to get a 1.5 ct.

Please post the angles from the GIA report.

Hi and welcome to Pricescope, did you see this diamond? Do you have more information such as the table %, depth %, pavilion angle and crown angle, is it a round brilliant, it is hard help you make an informed decision without that information. Post it if you can.

i did see the diamond in person i dont have that other info but i can get it.
I figured that to get to a 1.50 i need to go to a I or J
i was told you really dont want to go lower than an H.

I think when it all boils down to it the 1.21 is a nice size and still has a good color at G and a VS2 to have to drop to an I or J and a SI1 or something just to hvae a 1.5 rock is it worth it? gaining that .20 in size and dropping in the color and carity?
I mean the one i looked at sparkled like crazy looked perfect. You know the saying Quality over quanity

Many SI''s are completely eye clean and H diamonds are still very white! Why not lower your color/clarity to the H/SI range and see if you can compromise around 1.3-1.4 carats?

How big is the finger this is going on?

Also do yourself a favor and read a little about cut on the tutorial under knowledge above. GIA grades it but their "excellent" is a big category (think grade inflation in school). Its most important for sparkle, but not reflected in the more common stats of color/clarity.

HI:

That, of course, it just an opinion like mine.

A very well cut diamond has the propensity to show less face-up color than it''s less well cut counterparts. By all means do not go "lower than an H" in color--but let that be YOUR decision based on having seen other well cut stones of varying color. (apples to apples).

cheers--Sharon
