Hey gang,
My gf and I looked once again at rings together. She loves the Tiffany Etoile.
Not buying from there but she loved the way a half carat looked. Even the salesperson
agreed. I was looking at stones around 3/4. In fact I almost purchased a .83
to greet her arrival. I hoped to get a stone a little bigger than the .55 she loved.
but the closest is .71. should i just do as she says and buy something in the .55-.6
range.
or do I give her .71 carat and she''ll adjust to the bigger size.
the setting I want is the etiene perret ashley.
she loved that. that is one thing we agree on.
thanks
i know this is not a problem, just want to give her what she deserves.
It has been a long road

Did she say she likes it because she doesn''t want you to overspend or because she genuinely wants a smaller stone?

If it is the money, get her what you can afford and what you think she deserves. If it is the size, then get her what she wants.

Have you thought of outright asking her?

It''s not money. We looked at different sizes in that setting.
She always went back to the smaller diamond in the setting.
She has small fingers 3.5
The setting did not look as crisp on the larger stone and I
feel that is something that played with her mind. It didn''t hug
the stone as it did to the .55 diamond
She said she wouldn''t throw out a bigger diamond
it is that she loved the sleekness of the ring with a baby.
Not that it''s about me. It''s not about money but I don''t want to be
cheap. That is why I have no problem spending 2 grand on the setting
that she loves.

As long as a bigger rock doesn''t affect any of the things she liked about the setting or particulars about that rock; I think bigger should be fine. But, if she just happened to like the proportions of the .5 to the setting width, you might have a problem going bigger.

just keep her in mind and you won''t go wrong.

I think you should get her the one she loves. The .55.

Got to agree with the girls!

That setting would get a lot heavier with a larger diamond. I mean don''t get me wrong, I think it''s GREAT you want to upgrade her already

, but it''s not like a thin band which stays the same no matter what size stone you put in it.

What size finger does she have?

Go smaller if that''s what she wants:)

Got to agree with the girls!
add another vote to the list

get her the size stone that she likes even if its it is "smaller" however, I would suggest getting it from somewhere with a great upgrade policy, because who knows down the road she may just want that tad bit larger diamond, You never know what the future holds

With that kind of setting I would get her the .5, because with a .71 the band can be too thick.

I am ALLABOUTSIZE

and my advice is usually GO AS BIG AS POSSIBLE

... but in this case, your GF has made her preference pretty clear... and I am with everyone else... get her the smaller one. I know a lot of guys who would LOVE to have your problem! haha!
