hey guys if a stone has a medium to very thick girdle does it mean it will cause me problems if i want it to be set in some nice setting? Also what type of effect does a very thick girdle has on a stone?

A 1ct diamond with a Very thick girdle is the same size as a 0.88ct diamond with a medium girdle.

Med to VTK probably means there is 1 spot that is medium and 20 that are VTK

A thick girdle doesn’t really have much effect on your light performance and it actually increases your durability somewhat. When setting, the jeweler is going to cut the seats to fit whatever stone they are given so it doesn’t even usually cause problems with setting although with certain designs there are a few issues that come up.

It’s about the money.

When someone looks at your wife’s finger and comments on how big the diamond appears, they are talking about the diameter, not the weight. If this is something that’s important to you, than there can be a problem since you are probably paying by weight. More weight usually means more money even though it may not translate directly into bigger look, better optics, or a more beautiful stone.
