I need some advice on the following GIA diamond. If we buy it, it will be set into a 4 prong micro pave palladium mounting. Any concerns with the specifications noted? The Girdle is described as "medium to slightly thick, faceted (4.0%)". I understand that a very thin girdle should be avoided since they are more susceptible to chipping. However, I don''t know what "faceted (4.0%)" means - ??

Up until this point, I''ve been looking mostly at Princess cuts. I''m now leaning toward a Round cut since they offer the most brilliance. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

4% means the thickness of the girdle is 4% of the diameter of the stone, with is in the slight thick range, nothing wrong with that.

Hi bride2be,

The girdle does indeed fall within slightly thick range at 4% which is well within desirable range. Faceted means just that, the girdle is faceted rather than smooth all the way around, read more here from the Pricescope tutorial concerning girdles, types and variations.

The diamond has great potential also, is it online or from a brick and mortar store? If online, an Idealscope image would be useful to confirm the numbers so to speak.

Do you know if the diamond is eyeclean or not?
