Hey everybody - Giangi here. I must apologize since I really haven''t posted much lately, but with school and everything else it was getting quite overwhelming. I am currently enjoying a great vacation in the US and obviously I did pay more than one visit to the Diamond District in NYC

Just before leaving, all of a sudden, I realized this could have been a great chance to upgrade a very pretty diamond I had bought the previous year from DiamondsByLauren (a 1.05ct asscher) and the right moment to pay a visit to their office.... That''s about as easy as it was, lol.
I contacted David to verify the details of the upgrade policy (thumbs up for offering a full refund against a new purchase) and to let him know that this time I was looking for a round brilliant stone.

I must say that the whole Diamond District atmosphere is halfway between fascinating, disturbing and hectic...but once you leave the street level everything, and I mean everything, changes. I went up to his office, where he had some stones selected for me and all I had to do was choose...Not an easy task may I say.
Let me also tell you that he tempted me showing $50-100K pink-vivid yellow diamonds in the funkiest array of colors
and shapes, but I was able to resist.

To make things short, I narrowed it down to one stone - a 1.10 H SI2 diamond, which I discovered was EGL USA certified. I must say that the cert in this case held literally no importance in the deal - the SI2 inclusions are white, non-offensive and EYE-CLEAN and the H color faces up very very white due to the beautiful make of the stone. I guess I got a dead-on EGL report.

As some of you know, I am not 100% sold for H&A stones - but to each his own. I will let you have ''em all.

The stone I picked still makes it to the GIA Excellent grade and should be regarded, in my humble opinion, as a great example of how many different set of proportions can create a beautiful stone.

Here are the specs:
Weght: 1.10 ct
Table Size: 61%
Crown Angle: 35.5°
Crown Height: 14%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43%
Depth: 60.8%
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish/Sym: Very Good/Very Good
GIA Cut Grade: Excellent
Color Grade: H
Clarity Grade: SI2
Fluorescence: Nil

I am attaching a couple of picture – please pardon their fair quality but I am currently on vacation and I do not have all the stuff I use at home. I’m just relying on the macro setting of my poor digicam lol.

Let me also spend a line to thank A LOT David and his brother Marc for finding this little beauty for me and kudos to their great customer service and sense of humor!

I will try and answer all of your questions:

Rich: David is FUN...he''s always in a kidding mood and the NY kind of accent is really the icing on the cake LOL

. His bro is very cool, too. On a more serious note, I have really been shown some amazing stones...Pink diamonds, vivid yellow diamonds, purple diamonds seem to be almost usual in his office. He has SO many (and I am SO envious) LOL. I have actually realized that I really like the paler tones better. Y-Z is a very nice shade of yellow in my opinion. It looks much darker than I expected...And prices on those are really convenient.

Alj: great to hear from you! Unfortunately I have had a lot of things to do with school and I really had very little time for the forum. But I''m ready to come back with a bang! lol (if you still have my email, drop me a line...I can''t find yours anymore

)

Fire&Ice: you can bet I had some wild shopping! I think they are gonna name after me a street in SoHo! LOL - Seriously, there is no place to shop like NY...Not even Milan!

Lorelei: nice to meet you! Seems like you are one of the new superconsumers of the forum! Don''t worry, I will stick around.

Mara: My bad... It would have been great to meet you or at least to have a good laugh on the phone. But hey, there''s always Messenger, no?

And yes, my new find looks divine, indeed. It comes from David''s friend Sam Spade. I have been told he is 82, but still going strong and running here and there in the Diamond District! On the other side, everytime I pop into pricescope your avatar looks bigger! LOL Keep ''em coming... there''s no such things as too big! LOL.
About my asscher... You''re correct, it''s in their store. I took advantage of their tradeup policy and returned that little square beauty.

FireGoddes: thanks a lot - i was indeed lucky to find such a good looking stone at an attractive price!
