Hi, I was hoping to get some input on the difference bw a gia very good diamond vs an excellent diamond (round). My husband and I are on a budget and it seems that our options are either .62 excellent (jeweler calls hearts and arrows) diamond, or a .76 very good diamond. Both have the same color and clarity. Just wondering if the difference in brilliance is something that can be seen by the naked eye? The jeweler suggested the .76 as biggest bang for the buck. I'd love some input!

More info - report numbers and exact ct weights, or other numbers, pics..?

From just that summary we can't really tell you anything I'm afraid.

have you seen both in person? which one stands out to you?

We actually already bought the .76, so I only have specifics about that one. Maybe I could get input as to whether or not it is a desirable "very good".
5.79-5.83 x 3.60 mm
color: G
clarity: SI1
cut: very good
TD: 62%
TS: 60%
CA: 35.5
CH: 14
PA: 41.2
PD: 43.5
SL: 55
LH: 80
Girdle: STK to THK
faceted (4.5%)
cutlet: none
polish: good
Symmetry: good
fluorescence: none

I know what some of this means, but not all of it. Help would be appreciated :)

We looked at the two side by side. The only thing I clearly noticed was that the .76 looked "whiter" than the .62 which was also graded G in color.

What did you pay for the diamond?

and also, before we give you any feedback, is there a return policy or are you stuck with it? We can give you contructive criticism either way

$3299 definitely not stuck with the diamond, but need to get something from this jeweler.

thoughts on the price for the stone? should i consider other options? it looks great to me, but i don't want to have any regrets.

use advance search to find a comparable diamond and see what one goes for online

I did a search on PS under diamond search...price seems reasonable. however based on the information we have, I think you can find a better stone. I would definitely go back to your jeweler and compare to some GIA Ex cuts and see what you prefer. Make sure to look at the diamonds in different lighting as the spotlighting makes everything look good!

Thanks so much. I will go back to the jeweler and talk about/look at some other options.

Looking at the stone specs and at the, it seems like a very nice stone (0.76).
The most important thing is to put the stone on the back of your hand and look at it in a natural light.

If the stone has life (Sparkle) = you are in business.
We sometimes in the trade even use the phrase, the stone is smiling.

I truly think it is the most important thing when buying a stone.

You did very well, taking the larger stone.
Enjoy it

great, thank you!
