Hi,

My VVS1, Triple EX GIA certified 1.24 ct RDC has all of these descriptions on the comments section. What do they meant?

Comments: feathers on the girdle, twinning, graining, cloud, pinpoint, inscription indented, inscription pre-existing, inscription internal.

Thank you!

Seems to me a lot of different types of inclusions for a vvs1. inscription pre-existing means that is was graded previously by a lab and was inscripted with a number, then graded again. If the two reports were not done in a short period of time, chances are you have purchased a second-hand stone. Or, it could just mean it was graded by a lab and then sent to another for reasons unknown.

Was it graded a vvs1 by GIA? Make sure someone isn't telling you its graded by GIA and a VVS1, when really it got that grade from a previous and much more lax lab.

Feathers on girdle: Feather = fracture or crack. Combining with previous thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-i-discovered-inclusion-not-appeared-in-the-plot.206828/#post-3764764#p3764764,,, it could be possible that the local jeweler who poorly set the stone chipped off a bit of it. You should probably see an independent appraiser. Go back to your other thread and post the additional info in case one or more experts and prosumers subscribed to it or were waiting for your update.

These last three must be typos. An "inscription" is a laser inscription of numbers or a brand logo on the girdle of the diamond, for identification purposes. But it does not make sense to describe inscriptions as indented, internal, or even pre-existing.

There is some additional information about clarity characteristics in the link posted in this thread:

Also, Google is really useful for finding more information about various types of blemishes.

Good luck!
