I am getting confused about some of the names for certain fancy shapes - and now have no idea of the differences between them.

I knew that the many experts on Pricescope could help. You folks are the best!!!!

I see shapes called Radiant, Cushion, Regent, Queen of Hearts, and I guess the new Jubillee from GOG. There may be others in this category too. (That Jubillee looked beautiful - would that be offered by all Pricescope dealers or is it only for GOG?)

I also don''t see any AGA guidelines under fancies for any of these. I see a GIA report that lists cushion - other shapes seem to be called modified square.

What are the differences and how would I know what table, depth etc. to look for??

Thanks for your help!!!!

Those are all different shapes. I believe the only two fancies that are the same cut with different names are Elara and Flanders. Each shape has its own cut grade chart, so even so some are generally 'square' each comes with its own set of guidelines.

Here is the AGA cut chart at:
www.gemappraisers.com

It is a pull down menu for various fancy shapes. This is a good place to start!

Good luck!

I have only developed charts for generic shapes. The problem with creating cut charts for "branded styles" or trade name types of diamonds is that they are generally only cut by one cutter. This cutter wants to maximize their financial return while making a pleasing product. However, the financial decisions tend to jade the parameters of what that cutter believes are the "very best", 1A grade stones. They generally won't say or they will fudge a little because they want all their stones to be "the best". Can't say I blame them, but it makes it difficult or impossible for me to impose parameters on their idea of what is beautiful and best.

I hope you and others will understand better now why only a limited number of fancy names are on the AGA Cut Class charts.

You cannot count on light return measurment alone, either. It takes brilliancy, scintillation and intensity to make a diamond beautiful. These components are each relative to eachother and not at maximum amounts. Measuring only one or two only hints at the end result. It needs all three measured to ascertain how a stone becomes a superb example.

Did I miss this new cut already (Jubillee?)? Can't find anything about it online... Geez - go away for one weekend

Thank you so much!
When I see some of the cuts, there are only very slight modifications to the outer geometric shape.
With the branding going on, it's difficult to tell them apart.
Thank you for some clarification!

Yes, the Jubillee was on GOG for just half a day. Said it was a mistake and will be shown soon - in the meantime they took it off their site.
Georgous, just georgous!
