Hi, I hope this is the right section to put this in, I''m looking for a bit of advice.

My fiancee and I have found a beautiful 1940''s white gold and diamond engagement ring and wedding band. They are very lovely and delicate, and they''re also a bit too small. I''m not certain of the exact size, but they fit perfectly on my pinky finger and my ring finger is a size seven. My guess is a size 6, as I have had sive six rings fit my pinky in the past, at the outside it''s a 5 and 1/2. Since the band is fairly thin, I''m worried it may not be able to be sized up enough to fit my finger. Is there a general guideline on how much a ring can be sized up? I love this ring and I''d love to be able to buy it.

Thanks!

I've heard that generally speaking, a ring can be sized 2 sizes up or down. If there is more than 2 sizes needed, you'll run into the problem of the ring not being round anymore. Also, you run the risk of the stones shifting and possible loss of stones if the ring is sized too many sizes up.

From eyeballing I'd say it's maybe 2mm wide. I was worried about the thickness, but I'll only be wearing it solo for about six months, at which point it will be soldered to the wedding band which is maybe 3mm. That should be durable enough, yes?
