Getting a diamond Aset in Chicago

Long time lurker, first time poster. Interested in a getting a lose stone I have checked out in more detail. Specifically want a aset, idealscope, and gemex type reports. Is there anyplace in Chicago that offers these services? I want to get as much detail/info on my diamond as possible. I'm not looking for a appraisal that just confirms what my GIA report has. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I called Dimend Scaasi and they don't offer a similar service. I called Richard but got the answering machine. I also tried professional gem sciences and the guy said he could only tell me if its a hearts or arrows. Guess I have to keep looking and will post if I find a place.

I'm a bit surprised by Pro Gem's response, but I don't know who you talked with.

You aren't asking for an *opinion* on whether the stone is a H&A, you're asking for an *aset* to be done. See if they can do that and bring the results here.

The problem here is that taking photographs of these things is a definite talent and it takes a fair amount of practice to get good at it. Walk in clients normally want an explanation of what it does and doesn't mean and the whole exercise ends up taking up a fair amount of time, meaning it's moderately expensive. That annoys people. I agree with the above, if you know what you want to do with the results, just get one yourself, it'll be cheaper than having someone take a photo. If what you're looking for is a cut analysis of a stone, hire an appraiser and get an analysis as part of your appraisal and the ASET part is 'free'. Easy peasey. I, for example, do them for my clients when they're appropriate for the job at hand but I don't offer it as an ala carte sort of service.
