I got the tsav!
Not sure what I will do with such a small gem, but I just couldn't resist that color. Unfortunately I won't get to see it for months.

That‘s great! The color on that tsav looks fabulous.
Sorry you won’t get to see it for a while but hopefully it’s worth the wait.

I wanted that bicolour tourm so badly, but I’m trying to be good right now. Hope the person that got it is here and will post lots of pics so I can live vicariously, and maayyyybe even call dibs if they ever change their mind. ;-)

Me too. I almost bought it yesterday, but just couldn't pull the trigger. It appears the decision for me has been made.

Do I need more stones? Nope! Can I resist a great deal on stones cut by Gene? No way!
I love unusual garnets and have had my eye on this yellow one for a while, so had to grab it at the sale price.

and this Rubellite tourmaline that was on sale I have planned to set in a pendant at some point.

I got the pink spinel! Thank you @elle_71125 for posting this sale! You're the best! I hope I love the stone! I have an empty BG 6 prong half tapered setting that may work!

Happy I could help enable you. I love that pink spinel (and the pink sapphire). I’m surprised they stayed on there this long. I can’t wait to hear what you think of it, once you get it in hand.

I’ve been admiring that yellow one for ages! It has a gorgeous cut and the color looks beautiful. The rubellite is pretty sweet to. It’s going to make a great pendant.

Enabling friends are the best! I will post pics when I receive it! I also realized that its 1.19 ct and my er diamond is 1.17 so someday when we upsize my diamond we could put the spinel in there and it would be a perfect fit! In the meantime I'm thinking either go in the 6 prong BG setting or halo it for a pendant! I'm excited either way!

I can't wait to see it!!! That one is beautiful.

The Taj spinels are good value imo. I have a 3 carat one that is very psychedelically cut but it's got great colour in most lights.

Got it thank you! I was posting the pink sapphires from James Allen when a kind soul directed me here to this fabulous collection. Is the cutting done by Gene very unique and hence they sparkle somewhat like pink diamonds? I am really into FCD but have not found any one of my liking yet, until Gene's pink sapphire caught my eye.

@La2020 Gene probably has developed his proprietary or signature cuts that only he does, but in general any precision cut that properly takes into consideration the gemstone's characteristics like refraction index, should look better than anything you can find on James Allen. I would also recommend that you look at Gemfix, which keeps a larger inventory than Gene and is priced a bit higher.

With Gene's drops, sometimes it's hard to get exactly what you want, because too many people are trying to check out at the same time.

My Black Friday sale stones arrived and they look even better in person than I had expected. The yellow Grossular garnet is so sparkly! It shows an orange flash at times that I find very interesting and beautiful. I think it might even be my favorite yellow stone in my collection so far. The rubellite tourmaline is very pretty in person too..that stone was so hard to capture in pictures what I am seeing in person. These were all taken inside in natural lighting.

What does the tourmaline look like in person? Is it red like the website photo? Or would you say it leans closer to pink? Orange? Brown?

Glad you love your new stones! :)

I’m not sure as of yet, but I’m thinking a ring for the garnet and a pendant for the tourmaline.

I always find Gene’s pictures to be very accurate and would say it‘s closest to what you see on the website, though with less of the darker areas. The tourmaline is one of those stones that is prettier in person than in my pictures. Depending on the lighting, I do also see the other colors you mentioned coming through at times, but I love shifty stones so I think that’s a good thing :)) .

@2Neezers that garnet looks amazing. More like sapphire than any garnet I've seen!

I love it! I was worried it might be too similar in color to a couple of Mali garnets I have from Gene, but it’s very different from those stones in color. Is it greedy of me that now I want an even bigger yellow grossular garnet someday?
