I am in Canada and have been doing my research to purchase a round brilliant for a engagement ring. I have done a search on the these forums looking for comparison information of GemScan in comparison to grading services such as GIA and AGS. The posts I found were fairly dated and did not present any real information.
I have found in Canada (Toronto area) that GIA and AGS stones are a little harder to come by. Many diamond sellers have GemScan grading stones for sale, I think this has something to do with not having GIA services available in Canada.
I have found some GemScan graded stones listed as IDEAL cut, in the color and carat range I am looking for. The prices seem comparable (slightly less) then comparable GIA and AGS graded stone listed on some of the more popular American internet vendors on Pricescope.
Does anyone information on GemScan grading and how it compares to GIA and AGS garding?
Does anyone have an experience with having a GemScan graded stone appraised by an independant appraiser and the results not being favorable?
I am sure several Canadians would like to have some information on this topic. And it will most likely be referenced by others in the future.
Many thanks
