Ditto!

If you like it, that''s all that matters. Personally, I''m a HUGE fan of prong-set eternity bands as wedding bands, and that''s what I''ll probably wind up getting when we upgrade my wedding set in the future. I''m like you ~ I like the big chunky ones!

What''s gaudy to me is not going to be same as what''s gaudy to you. I''m just not a fan of big and chunky -- I prefer refined and understated pieces. And I doubt you''ll get any satisfaction as to what is gaudy and what is classy on this forum because there are just so many different tastes in jewelry. Can you imagine if we all wore the same styles? This world would be dull indeed!

Again -- it''s all personal preference.... everyone is so different.

I once tried on a 27ct Pear with baguettes -- and I thought "there is NO way I could wear this everyday!"
But, I quickly changed my mind after 2 minutes of having that dazzler on my finger!

I could get used to that size!!

I agree.. Get what you like AND what you can afford!!

Oh yeah, I always forget to mention the budget piece of it.

I can''t imagine going into debt for a ring, but I know there are some out there who do!

yes your right sometimes just one beautiful big solitare would be nice.... like lets say a 3 carat RB solitare!!!!

I think it''s a lot about proportion as well. A 6mm band looks pretty big on my size 4.25 hand, but a 10mm band or set or bands looks fine on other people here with long larger fingers. I would just make sure to try on the look you are going for to make sure you think it looks good on your hand and is comfortable to wear.

my problem is that my fingers are soooooo long i am 5 foot 10 and my finger is size 4.75 and i love the ring to be wide to give me coverage

but not full coverage ya know

You''ll probably be fine with a wider set then!! If you are referring to the shanna moekler set you are making I don''t think it''s gaudy at all. It is pretty blingy though!

thank you!!!

i feel better now.......and YES!

that is exactly the ring i am talking about except mine will not be as thick as hers of corse it will be with a 2 ct center RB .thank you for all of your support!

Nothing ever gets gaudy for me. Wear and enjoy whatever design makes you smile.

It takes quite a bit for a piece of jewelry to become gaudy for me too! I''m going through the same thing right now and I really am putting together a ring that will be quite gaudy for many. I''m very excited about it though. I''ve got a 4 carat RB going into an antique style Natalie K/Beaudry inspired ring. Trapezoid sides, halos all around, pave, surprise stones.....pretty blingy.....lol.

Your ring is going to be truly beautiful and the anticipation is just getting to you....just like it is with me!

Too gaudy only = out of budget. Other than that, go with what you like! My personal sweet spot is about 2.5 - 3cts. After that''s it''s too much for me. I don''t wear a lot of big jewelry, I don''t like the way it looks on me. But it looks great on everyone else!!!

WOW! LUVS THE FLASH i cant wait to see the final outcome of that it sounds awesome!!!!

I''m with you, tberube! I don''t think I could comfortably wear anything bigger than about 2.5 to 3 carats, but I love how they look on everyone else!

And, honestly, if we win the lottery someday and DH surprises me with like a 10 carat solitaire or something, I don''t think he''ll have to twist my arm too hard to get me to wear it! LOL!

ditto! Personally I prefer smaller diamonds, but then I''m like that with most jewellery etc. I just prefer daintier things, but it''s all up to the individual.
