Hi All,

I know some of you were interested in my progress through the G.G. program w/ GIA so I thought I''d post an update. I just finished my 3rd course tonight. That course was Colored Stone Essentials. In my own life, I''m much more of a diamond girl and haven''t paid too much attention to colored stones. However I must have picked up a few things here and there (probably mostly on PS) and I actually did really well on this course. I completed the final tonight (online) and only missed 1 question! yay!

I have to thank T-Gal though, if it wasn''t for her pad search, re-search and gorgeous ring by Leon, I probably would have missed that question! LOL

So now I''m going to start my 4th course (Colored Stone Grading) which will probably take me 2-3 months (they will allow up to 18 months for this course) but I haven''t had problems speeding things up with the previous courses. After that I have (3) labs, which I''ll need to take on campus - in Carlsbad, CA, which will take 3 weeks total and then I''ll have 1 final course called Gem Identification (which is kinda freaking me out)!

I''m about halfway there, can''t wait to be Asscher_Girl G.G.!!!!!

Congratulations on being halfway there! How fun.

Where are you located? Are you nearby the Carlsbad GIA? I drove by there when on vacation and loved spying through the metal fence.

So cool!!!

Thanks MC! I''m up in San Jose but I have a girlfriend that lives in San Diego so I''m going to stay w/ her while I take the lab classes. (I''m hoping DH can hold down the fort while I''m gone, it will be interestling LOL)

Thanks Bella!

Congrats for making it this far. I was wondering how it was going for you. Are you still enjoying it and learning a lot? Has being on PS helped you much or exposed you to information that has been valuable for your courses?

I''m excited to hear more about it in person.

Hi Swingirl! Thank you

I definitely think being on PS has helped me. For both of the Essentials courses (Diamonds and Colored stones, most of the info I already knew just by being on ps/going to gtg''s/ and having a love for jewelry

. But I''d have to say that my second course (Diamond Essentials) was a lot harder. It was in depth info re: diamonds and it really broke down each and every section, for ex: there would be one whole section (25-30 pages) on just clarity alone. I''ve been doing really well on the quizzes and finals but I''m hoping that all of this info is going to stay in my head. I know once I get into the industry and am surrounded by all of these facts and actually using this knowledge, that''s when it will really all sink in. At least I hope so

Hope to see you soon and we can chat more about it!

It sounds like great fun Asscher girl.!! Hang out in the colored stones threads and you will learn a LOT! Good luck on your next course.
