If everything about the diamonds were equal but one G color round diamond had medium blue fluorescence and one had none, which would you choose?

I would choose none or negligible.

May I ask why none? Pardon my digging, I'm just trying to educate myself! :)

If ALL is equal, the price on the medium fluorescence is likely a few dollars cheaper, so that would be a great choice, provided you do not intend to resell the diamond. It is very rare that all is really equal though. Even if all looks equal on paper, there is a very high likelihood that one will actually look better than the other.

Sadly, there is often no way to know without seeing them side by side, preferably without knowing which is which so that you can let your eyes do the picking.

More fluor, baby!

But seriously, as Wink said, one likely is the better performer.

I would choose medium blue.

My guess is its all a matter of preference to ones own eye.

Medium blue.

Medium Blue.

G color is in the near colorless range already (likely facing up white), if they were identical I would choose no flour.

Edit: Reason for this: Some look down on diamonds when flour is present, whether is affects the diamond negatively or not (from my research).

Absolutely with fluor

Not likely faces up white, WILL face up white without question (probably won't notice any body color from the sides too)!

Icy white fluorescent diamonds were all the rage years ago, especially in the asian community. I would say the ones who truly know diamonds, appreciate what fluorescence is in a stone. It's a rare property to have and as long as it doesn't negatively affect the stone, a very interesting attribute, cool to look at.

I wouldn't hesitate buying a stone with Fluor if it didn't make the stone milky or cloudy.

It is not that I don't like fluorescence. My 1.47 F-VS1 marquise has strong fluorescence and my 3.01 F-SI1 pear has medium.

But when I ordered my CTO (cut to order) CBI diamond, I requested negligible fluorescence (as are 99% of all CBI diamonds) because this was a significant purchase (almost 2x the cost of my pear) and resale could be a possibility in the future. I also didn't mind paying more for the absence of fluorescence.

I would choose none because I'm not a fluorescence lover per se. I prefer the steely white diamond over one that exhibits a blue or lavender tint - even if only in the correct lighting for it to do so. A G color stone should absolutely be white enough on its own so I would think it would be a matter of personal preference.
