Following the thread by @AprilBaby; what are your future holiday destinations that you have in mind?

We can all dream about better days when the freedom to travel returns, whenever that may be!

Here are mine, as in places that I have not visited in the past, in no particular order:

Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Penang)
Japan (Tokyo and Kyoto)
Morocco
Mexico
China (Beijing, Shanghai, Xian etc...)
Hawaii
Tucson and Arizona
San Francisco
Miami
Goa
Bangkok
Cites in Europe

I want to eat my way around the globe!

Don't quite know how to fit them in, however, I am sure I'll find a way.

What are your future holiday destinations you have in mind please?

DK :))

Anywhere that doesn't require a mandatory vaccine to get in the country and quarantine either way.... lol

You are having staycations for a while perhaps?!

DK :lol-2:

We’re not booking any holidays until this is all done with!

However, I’m dreaming of going back to Italy and have a lovely European train journey mapped out in my head- Paris to Rome via the Bernina express, then onwards to Sorrento.

I don’t think I’ll be getting on a plane ever again, so I have no long distance hankerings.

@Snowdrop13 my folks are a few time zones away, and I have no choice except to fly over there if I were to visit them.

However, I am not going to get into a plane until I am vaccinated against C19, and am hopeful that an effective vaccine will be available towards the end of this year if not early next year.

I hope the vaccine comes soon, and you get to see them!

Outer Hebrides, maybe a return trip to Iceland and the idea of seeing cherry blossoms in Japan is a nice one, but haven't really commited to it yet.

Right now, I think I’d like to go anywhere far away with either pretty scenery, beaches or mountains, or nice sightseeing. I’m not fussed.

Australia
New Zealand
Iceland
Hawaii

When I just asked my dh he said "our backyard" haha. Yes it is true I loathe flying but if he gets his pilot license and he flies the plane I am in!

Truth be told it doesn't suck here. It's pretty sweet so I don't mind being here.

New Zealand, Scotland, Turkey, South America, Antartica. If I don’t get to Turkey I need to get somewhere in Asia to complete my continents. Oh and Greece! I love seeing antiquities.

Tokyo
Paris
Stockholm

I really miss living in Europe and Japan, though I feel very fortunate to be able to visit often.

Harris is so beautiful!

Have you been? Is there anywhere you'd recommend? We're thinking about either visiting for a few days then onto Skye for a week or staying on Harris for a week but I'm not sure if there would be enough to do.

Yes, we’ve been a couple of times. It is incredible, looks like the surface of the moon, it’s almost like going to a different country. The beaches are amazing, Luskentyre is like nothing I’ve ever seen. We found plenty to do, Callanish (better than Stonehenge, way more atmospheric, and quiet), Gearrannan blackhouses, the distillery at Tarbert (great cakes and gin!), the tweed weavers etc etc. Personally I prefer it to Skye, which has become very busy and changed from the wilderness I remember from 30 years ago.

Thanks! I'll have a Google. Skye was an eye opener for us the first time we went, we alway holiday at 'home' but Skye was the first time we really encountered other tourists. We've been back since then and stay away from the popular areas although this year was third time lucky when we were able to get to the Quiraing, get parked and walk along the ridge. (It was raining and misty and we couldn't see a thing, but hey ho.)

Such is life in Scotland! Hope you find somewhere you like.

This cottage is the most incredible place, you can basically spend a week just looking out of the windoW at the ever changing scene. It’s very popular, though, as you’ll see from the availability calendar!

I left out one place. I love France and it’s been decades since I visited. If I start taking planes again I’d visit my friend @Jimmianne

@missy 's beach house so she can buy me ice cream!!!

Hawaii
Japan
Bangkok (we were supposed to go but there was a protest at the time and we ending up spending longer in Singapore)
Maldives (I would love to go again but with our son)
Singapore (favorite default place)

You know you have an open invitation!!! Anytime. After the pandemic is over. :)

DH and I are Planning a trip to Prague, Lake Como and Switzerland next spring (or fall depending on world status with Covid) with our son and my sister. Returning to Greece, Venice and Stocking Island in the Bahamas on the list with a trip to Spain, river cruise also. We love to travel and so hard not to be able to even plan now. Thankful for where we are right now though!

Sorry if this sounds braggy, but I‘ve been to most places I wanted to visit, we wanted to go to Angkor Wat, but I don’t see that happening now. We’ve booked a cruise for November 2021 which starts in Singapore, stopping in Bali and down the west coast of Australia ending in Sydney.

I think once we (hopefully) move next year to be near our son and future DIL, I don’t think we’ll particularly want to travel much anymore.

I actually planned a trip to HK last year before the protests got serious (and I had to cancel), and then a trip to Tokyo this year for cherry blossoms before the pandemic (and I had to cancel when the pandemic got serious)... so ok maybe there is a trend and I hope I don’t jinx any place...

1. Hong Kong - cos Disneyland for my kids and it’s such an easy destination for me, since minimal research needed
2. Japan - probably Tokyo but Osaka as well for the theme parks, and Hokkaido for a ski holiday? I could just plan to go Japan yearly too. LOVE the food and toilets there.
3. Korea - um cos I love the food
4. Taiwan - another easy location but when my kids are older so that they can enjoy the night markets (and food)
5. Vietnam (the scenic places and not cities)
6. Lijiang, in Yunnan, China
7. Beijing, China (thanks to all the chinese dramas set in the forbidden city)
8. New Zealand (LOTR... plus I love how fresh the air is there)
9. A safari holiday in Africa. Maybe Botswana or, Masai Mara again but during the great migration (no kids! Haha when I’m older n retired I think)
10. Florida (cos Disney World n Harry Potter)
11. Fiji or Maldives
12. I don’t know if I’ll do all of Europe again, but maybe Spain or Italy, or the Nordic countries

I hate flying, so anything more than 8 hours is iffy. Ditto anywhere that is cold. But I feel like I should bring my kids travelling.

Quite a few that I’ve been to before but I’m sure the experience will be quite different with kids.

I had planned to visit my folks in Vancouver next February with a detour to Tucson so that I could visit the gem shows.

However, that is not happening anymore as I do not believe I am ready to fly by then, hey ho!

Hence I am planning a separate holiday for Arizona instead, to include Tucson's gem shows in February, probably 2022 if not 2023.

I am likely to plan a side trip for future trips to Vancouver, to make the most of flying all that way, and to make my visits to Vancouver less of a chore/duty etc...

DK :))

I anticipate international travel being difficult for some time if you’re required to quarantine on arrival so I’m planning domestic trips:

New Orleans
Nashville
Charleston
Austin
NYC
Chicago

Pretty much all for the food lol.

The latest travel restrictions prompted me to think about places I would like to visit again, in particularly, why I would like to visit these places.

These are the ones I can think of so far, and food is always top of the list without saying!

Miami - Art Deco buildings
New York - All the landmarks that appear in films, plus to pay my respect at Ground Zero
Hawaii - I would like to visit the factory that makes the Jams World Hawaiian shirts, and I would like to get a few while I am there
San Francisco - To ride the trams and to see the famous bridge (walk across it if possible)
Tucson and Arizona - Gem shows and the landmarks in films
Japan - I would love to visit the Mikimoto Pearl Museum, and to visit Kyoto to see the old Japan
Beijing - To visit the Imperial City and Great Wall

I can dream, right?

The most important place to visit right now as soon as I am able to travel outside of UK would be Vancouver, to see my mum and brother.

DK :))

We want to do a bike tour New Zealand one day. We had thought about planning it with our tandem guy and his group but then I broke my leg that year so that was out. So maybe one day in the future...g-d willing we are both healthy enough and strong enough to do it.

And we would love touring the French countryside on our tandem. Hi @MarionC would you join us? :)

I can dream, right?

Heck yeah. See my above post. Life is nothing without goals and dreams.

You are never too old to dream a new dream.

Just getting to go to the local mall, restaurants, hair dresser etc. again will be enough to keep me overjoyed for a while! I can't even think past that right now. :)

If you get to Austin @MakingTheGrade we can have a mini GTG with Bayek.
