I had it once and received two cortisone injections. They were very effective for me and it has not recurred. I hope you get some relief!

Sorry to hear that Begonia. I’ve had it in both shoulders (not at the same time) went to PT for months with no real results. I had cortisone injections. That finally helped.

mine lock up around once a year and have to get cortisone injections to get back about 95% in one shoulder and around 70% range in the other after the shots and exercises. I dont bother with formal PT after the first time, I know the exercises

Frozen shoulder - ouch. Had it for two years. physical therapy helped a bit with rage of motion but not pain. Ultrasound guided cortisone helped with pain but had to be redone every three months. Ultimately year 3 I had surgery and they did a lot of things including repairing tendon tear, but this fixed things up properly. Took a year plus to recover though. Never want to have that again. Now I have good range of motion, and only the occasional ache. Much better pain wise, and range of motion is about 80% of the other shoulder, but quite acceptable.

Had some work place accidents that contributed. Painful as h e c k. Cortisone in 10 days. PT has done squat. Agreed.

Whoa! That's quite the journey you had! Sigh. This middle age approaching senior crap is for the birds. I want off. Glad everything turned out OK in the end for you!!!

once you get the shot, light stretching only for 24 hours hourly then start the exercises you leaned in PT.

A shoulder can be the purest misery. They used to free the adhesions with you awake on the table, now some are done under sedation.
Try the cortisone, best wishes. It can be strong medicine.

I was also told that there was some arthritis which was at a normal level for my age. Possibly a bone spur that a ligament caught on and the hope was that the cortisone would reduce the inflammation. After the second shot, it was much better. I woke up that way one morning so no idea how it happened. I hope you get the same relief I did!

I’m like you @MissGotRocks, it come on out of the blue.
MRI showed bone spur involvement with the impingement and lots of inflammation. Very painful. Thankfully the cortisone injection helped, but it took awhile. @Karl_K is right, the exercises help along with the cortisone. Then about a year later, just my luck, it happened to my other shoulder. Good luck Begonia, I hope you find relief soon!

I had one that was healed with physical therapy. It took a while, but it worked. The second one was severe enough that I couldn’t drive - I had a CV manual transmission - when I was routinely driving 200 miles RT to help my parents. A cortisone shot cleared it up pretty much right away.

Frozen shoulder is the worst! :(2 I had it for months, unfortunately for me the injections did not work BUT what did was finding and amazing physiotherapist who specialised in shoulders. That was the only PT she did, shoulders! It turned out that my original physio had given me exercises that were unhelpful and basically aggravating it further. I can't stress enough how important it is to find a physio who specialises in shoulders!!! Good luck! =)2

It has been a misery. What a strange... syndrome? Not sure what to call it. Inflammatory response I guess. Cortisone doesn't agree with me but here goes.

Driving is hard, along with dressing. Fingers crossed the cortisone helps! Thanks for replying!

Thanks D!! Do not recommend this. Wanna go shopping? I could use some retail therapy... I never do that anymore.

Roger that. My first PT was useless, then I tried an osteopath. Gotta say it really didn't help at all. I'll inquire about shoulder specialty. The city I'm in, not likely but You. Never. Know.
