"101 Carat Diamond Up For Sale in Palm Beach

Around 300 people with around $15 million to spare gathered in Palm Beach on Friday for a chance to glimpse the debut of one of the rarest and largest jewels on earth ? a fancy vivid yellow diamond the size of a ping pong ball.
Weighing in at 101.28 carats, the diamond is mounted in a pave setting with more than 100 smaller diamonds: four pear-shaped, 46 round and 60 yellows. The additional diamonds weight together five carats.
The diamond was cut from a 200-carat rough stone mined in South Africa about a year ago, while a smaller diamond cut from the rough stone weighs 16.63 carats
The diamond is expected to be sold by the end of this weekend, and if not, it will be on display next weekend at the Palm Beach Classic jewelry show at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
