French Cut settings

I've seen a few french cut settings here by LM, VC and others - they are all beautiful in pictures - but I've never seen one in person, so am just wondering if they are really worth the expense? I have a personal preference for the VC Sophia.

My stone is an L cushion - so I don't feel comfortable putting it in any setting as I had initially wanted a halo - and while I'm trying to exhaust cheaper alternatives with respect to a French cut setting, I don't seem to be having much luck.

I was also hoping to do a mini e-ring upgrade too, but the cost of the VC setting means no mini upgrade.

What would you do ... 2 new rings or 1 VC setting? If 2 new rings, how would you set the L?

I've seen Art Nouveau's in person and it's pretty amazing. Is it worth the extreme expense??? I can't answer that. BUT if I had the budget and the right stone, I would be awfully tempted.

Thanks for the reply Gypsy. I guess it's hard to describe the FC settings in words! I really wish I could see on in person - but it is good to know that you would be tempted!

I will probably never have another opportunity to buy another diamond like this again and I want to do it justice by setting it properly. It really is a once in a lifetime purchase for me.
