So I thought I had narrowed my search down to this stone which has a 1.9 HCA model # 6266052

http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-6266052-0.80-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-SI1-clarity.aspx

As it appeared be offer the best bang for the specs I was looking for (.75-.8, VS2- SI1, G-I, 2 or less HCA, $2,500 or less). Here's what B2C had to say about it (I was comparing it to another of their stones #6212003)
"Our gemologists have personally examined both the diamonds ( 6266052 & 6212003 ) and have found out that the diamond with stock# 6266052 is eye clean and looks much better than the other one and has more fire and brilliance compared to stock# 6212003 because being an I color this diamond has a very slight brown tinge which is only visible under close inspection and therefore we strongly recommend the diamond with Stock# 6266052 ".

About to pull the trigger when I did one last search on Blue Nile and came up with these......

.75 SI1 I 1.4 HCA

.75 SI1 I 1.4 HCA

.80 SI1 I 1.2 HCA

I've requested images, idealscope, ASET, but have yet to receive replies.

All things being equal as well as under the gun to get the stone, send to the custom setting maker out of town, and get back in time for Christmas, should I pull the trigger on the B2C stone, wait for more info on the Blue Nile stones, something else?

Bump as I really need help on this. By the way, the third GIA report is for a .8 VS1 H at the same price point as the .75 SI1 I stones. Wondering why this is such a great deal?

BN doesn't do ASET / idealscopes.

I see the b2c is out of stock - did you get it?

Its on hold.

Due to the shallow pavilions I would not consider any of those 3 from BN for ring and only a maybe for a pendant or earring.
The cut quality is not comparable with your other choice for a ring.

So even though those three have better HCA ratings (1.2 -1.4) I should choose the stone with the lesser HCA (1.9)?

A lesser (lower) number does not equate to a better cut stone when all your options are less than 2.0 on the HCA. The HCA is a weeding out tool, not a final selection tool.

You are only suppose to look for hca score under 2. lower number doesnt mean better than higher number (or vice versa).

this may be off topic... but i'm wondering when and why a GIA report is printed?? At the bottom of the report it says "last printed 12/8"

A 1.9 is not better than a 1.4 or 1.3 by itself, under 2 or sometimes 2.5 with specific combos it is worth a further look.
Part of that is considering where it would be best used.
HCA passes stones that are best in pendants and earrings instead of limiting itself to rings so that has to be considered.
