I found my diamond! (any thoughts on it would be appreciated!)

It''s being set into a Blue Nile platinum trellis setting

The only thing I''m having second thoughts on is the size. My princess cut center stone was a 1.08 carat with a decent spred. Will this .91 look significiantly smaller?

Everyone said that a round looks bigger than a princess of the same carat weight. If this is cut well it will most likely face up as a 1 carat. I don''t think you should be worried.

No, it does not look too small! Geesh, aside from the people on PS, the average diamond size is much much lower for the US!

I always find rounds, even a bit smaller in carat weight, look larger than princesses (in general)! You will be fine!

Did you compare the numbers of your princess to the round you have purchased? Most 1.08 princess cuts have a smaller spread than the .91 you purchased.

I did and when I spoke to a Blue Nile rep, he said you can''t compare a princess to a round because they are different shapes.

But comparing mm to mm, the round I bought has nigher numbers than my princess, yet it''s a lower carat weight...?

Thanks UCLA! I know, you''re right. I did tell a good friend and she said that I shouldn''t have gone with a lower carat weight than my original. But I''ve tried telling her in the past that it''s about the mm spread and not so much the carat weight that determines the visual size. (I hope I''m right about that!)

Yep, you are right. Carat weight is often hidden in the depth of certain cuts, such as princess, asschers, etc....

Ok, my 1.06 princess cut stats were:

1.06 carat
5.82 x 5.53 x 3.95mm
No cut info.

The round brilliant stats are:

.91 carat
6.18 x 6.22 x 3.84 mm
AGS 000 Ideal

Given those measurements, you might not even notice the difference at all, even though the RB is technically bigger. Bah to the friend who says you shouldn''t have gone lower.

I think that it is going to be just lovely!

It''s going to be gorgeous! I think you''ll be surprised at how much you''ll love the size AND sparkle! Welcome to the round club.

You actually have a lighter stone weight, but the look of an upgrade. What could be wrong with that! good job!
