Would you go back to a former employer. I quit working for a particular chain jeweler(20 something stores and well known on the forum)a few years ago because of problems with management and lack of staffing. They are looking for an experianced lead salesperson and I was asked by a friend to re-apply to work for this company. The old management has been fired and the old Assistant Manager(whom i got along with well and knows that i was the top producing salesperson at that location for 6 0f the 8 monthes I was employed there) is general manager now.The money would be double what im making now for about half the work load. But this company does have well known finantial problems and is trying to keep their stores open(what jewelry company dosnt have money problems these days)and they expect alot from their employees because they do pay well...am i going from the frypan into the fire(most of you know im at a dead end job that i dislike alot)Should I go with the other company ,even though im aware of their good and bad points until i can find a good long term position with another company.Keep in mind the company im with now also has big finantial problems and has refused raises or promotions for the last 2 years, but has doubled and in some stores tripled(we are down for 7 to 2.5 employees) the workload on exsiting employees.
What advice do you have to give...Im listening!

I would go for it. The money is better, old management is gone. And you like the General manager, who really admires your ability to be a top salesperson. He''s got your back, that''s key.

The company is having financial troubles but so is the company you are working for now. You did a great job for the company, so surely they want you back. And in going back, you''ll be getting twice what you are getting now...

I would go back. BUT keep your eyes open to their situation.

Good luck!!

I agree. Good luck!

thritto.

Good luck.

I would go back, too. Both companies are having financial problems, but you already know you are unhappy with your current company. The situation that caused you to leave the offering company no longer exists and you get along with the new manager who already has a good impression of you. In addition, you will start at a higher salary than you currently make, and you likely will not achieve that salary at your current job any time soon since it has not been giving raises. Go for it!

I agree, the relative prospects look good.

Apart from change and the relative unknown, could you comment on reasons to stay, too?

I have, and I am.

I''m currently working for the same company that I began my employment history with here in Texas. I have worked at their original auto dealership, their Toyota dealership, their Honda dealership, and their Suzuki dealership. I have put in a total of 15 years with them.
