How long did it last? Hours? Days? Leave and come back again? I went to my OB yesterday because I was having more than usual, did an US and will wait til next week to see how everything is coming along. Just wondering how long it lasted for you ladies. Thanks!

I had some spotting off and on, but never too heavy. I had an early u/s due to this and it turned out it was twins!. Not that spotting means twins, but my Dr said that was probably why I was soptting

I know it''s so hard to see ANY spotting while pregnant...so try to keep telling yourself it''s normal! (I know, easier said than done!). Congrats!!!!

Sometimes hours, somtimes days and for me, it always seemed to come and go. I started spotting at about 9 weeks pg with my first and it happened every few weeks until I had him at 38 weeks. I know how scary it is, but try to stay as calm as possible. For some women it''s just normal. They never found a cause for mine. I was just one of the lucky ones, I guess! I had it with my second child too, but not as often.

ss- Sorry you are spotting! Ugh. I''ve not had any spotting, but my boobs are less sore today which is stressing me out

I have a feeling this is only the beginning of the worrying, unfortunately. Did everything look okay with the ultrasound? How far along did they think you are? Sending you sticky dust...

ah, thanks you guys! I feel much better. I had it all day (light) which had never happened before and scared the *** out of me. US looked ok so far, I say Ok because they measured me a week behind so they can''t get a heartbeat yet. I hope to think this is all ok because it did take me an extra week after missing AF to get my BFP, so I could just be ahead of the game. They did say they found some implantational bleeding in there. I thought that only happened once, but I guess the Dr says it happens off an on. Weird, but I''ll take it. A horrible time to get an US though because even though the heart isn''t there yet because its too early, its scary not to have that as a reassurance. 8 more long days to see that little bugger......

This kid is going to be grounded as soon as she comes out. I thought I had 16 more years before they scare their mother!!!

I was 6 weeks pregnant and I spotted for 4 days. It was awful and scary but thankfully everything ended up being normal and fine.

SS- spotting can be caused by so many different things and most of them are totally benign (implantation bleeding for example). I''ve not had any spotting, but I had horrible cramps until about 8 weeks or so. I was freaked out daily.

At this point what''s meant to be will be. Getting stressed over it is ultimately going to have a worse effect on you and the LO so try to relax and let mother nature do her thing.

icekid-that sounds like most of the first tri for me. I didn''t have m/s so if it weren''t for the bloat and boobs I wouldn''t have known I was pregnant! Now I feel like my belly is too small for where it should be at 15 weeks (compared to other 15 week pics I''ve seen) so I''m wondering if the baby is measuring on track. It just never ends!

I didn''t even start showing until almost 6 months, and I weighed 135 pounds when I got pregnant. It''s weird. I thought for sure I''d be showing by 3 months.

I spotted on and off for two days in my 7th or 8th week. I''m now almost 22 weeks pregnant. Don''t sweat it and DON''T google spotting during pregnancy!

Yea it''s crazy how different it is from person to person. I had a massage this morning and the therapist said I wasn''t showing as much because I have a super long torso. She called me out on being pg (I know, bad I didn''t tell her in advance I was pg) just by the way my lower back felt while she was working.

I spotted for the first nine weeks. But my ultra sound looked fine the whole time.

seriously, we''re all in for a lifetime of worry is my suspicion. So far I''ve just got the sore boobs and tummy bloat, too. It''s still early, so MS will surprise me when least expected, no doubt! I am so prone to motion sickness and such that I cannot imagine I''ll escape it. Sigh.. grow baby grow! Ironically, the boobs are back the their usual super sore state

Icekid, I had the same worries. One day my boobs would hurt then the next nothing. I was constantly worrying that I was miscarrying. You''re right - as time goes on one worry just turns into another. There will always be something to worry about.

With my last pregnancy, I had an episode of bleeding, not spotting, and everything turned out fine, so I wouldn''t get ahead of yourself with worrying. I know, easier said than done.

Even though I''ve heard that something like 25% of women have spotting/bleeding during pregnancy without a bad outcome, when it happened to me, of course I thought the worst. It was a gush of blood at 9 weeks. I waited until the next morning to go for an ultrasound and saw Ben''s little heart, still beating like crazy. There was a pocket of old blood beside the amniotic sac, and the u/s tech told me to expect to have spotting for a couple more weeks. Sure enough, it went on for about 3 weeks and then stopped. The rest of my pregnancy was uneventful.

Hang in there!

Split Shank, just popping in to give you big hugs! Spotting is completely normal!

I just wanted to reassure you - lots of women actually don't know they're even pregnant because they think they had AF... when it was spotting! Very normal!
I know lots of women had spotting (it varies per person how much and how long) but they all went on to have perfectly healthy babies!

Hugs hugs! Totally normal! Don't worry! As long as you're being monitored, you have nothing to fear! HUGS!

Ditto! I started spotting at 5 1/2 weeks and called my Dr. right away. She said that spotting is normal and it''s extremely common with twins.

I will NEVER forget that conversation...hehe. Anyway, I continued to spot on and off up until 9 weeks and because of that, I had 4 ultrasounds done between 5 1/2 weeks and 9 week (I miscarried last summer so, I was EXTREMELY paranoid). During the first two ultrasounds, they only saw one baby and then at 7 weeks, we found out it was twins!!

Anyway, the main thing to look out for (and I can attest to this having gone through the miscarriage) is if the spotting turns into enough flow to fill a pad in one hour. Also, be concerned if the flow is bright red, there''s clotting and bad cramping. However, if none of that is the case, you''re fine...you just need to wait it out.

I found that when I did things that were more "strenuous" such as mopping my floor or even after throwing up from m/s, that I''d spot (so, yes mine did leave and come back many times). I ended up not doing much during the weeks I was spotting because I was scared of making it worse! I basically sat on the couch with my legs raised as soon as I got home from work until I went to bed. Crazy I know!

Hang in there - you''ll be FINE!!! Congratulations!!!

I was the same way! When you have an ultrasound at 5 1/2 weeks you definitely can''t see much. My Dr. said she thought she saw a flicker so, I held on to that. I had my next one just over 6 weeks and the Dr. on call didn''t even attempt to hear the heartbeat - he was just checking me quickly because of the spotting. I was a basket case before all my ultrasounds!
26.gif
Finally, at 7 weeks we heard TWO beautiful heartbeats!!!!

For the rest of our parental lives....?

(well, I am glad to know you had fluctuating boob soreness and your bean is growing well! hehe)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I feel a lot better now. I had had one spot a week ago, I figured that was fine. Then yesterday was still light, but every time I went to the bathroom. So I guess I panicked. I didn''t know how much was too much. You all put me much at ease. Hopefully we see a little heartbeat next week. 5w4d!

I think I am 4w4d, so one week behind you exactly! Usually they can get a heart beat around 6 weeks, right?

I started bleeding (not spotting) at 7 weeks. Had a US and all was good.

Then had spotting for the next 2 weeks on and off.

Mela had the same - we both had subchorionic haematomas which are very common and resolve themselves.

I think so??? Someone correct me if I''m wrong. I will be at 6w5d at the next recheck so I''d hope to see something by then, even if its just growth from yesterday. Spotting stopped today, so all is well in this crazy world again.

I put myself on pelvic rest hahaha. No crazy workouts, crunches, or anything to do with below the belly button. DH already is afraid I''m made of glass after yesterday so I''m sure he will keep an arms length til at least next week!

I did have some spotting at 4-5 weeks. It was pretty heavy and thought I was going to have my period therefore that I wasn''t pregnant.

I''m trying to remember exactly what happened. I had one experience of spotting that started light but got heavy enough that I had to put on a pad, went to the ER and had an u/s, and they saw a fetal pole (I think this was around 5 weeks maybe? Right at the point where not seeing the hb didn''t mean anything definite yet), and then had to have my beta levels checked to see if they were increasing.

Then I had some more bright red spotting in 2nd tri that the dr. said was from having a "sensitive cervix" so any time anything irritated my cervix, it came back. She mentioned sex or internal exams, but it turned out that the thing that really made me bleed was straining to have a bowel movement. Everything turned out fine though!

Hope everything is fine for you!

I''m sorry this is stressing you out split_shank - I''m not a mom but I know that many of my friends who have kids have talked about spotting - it''s ususally normal and benign.. I hope you get some reassurance from your dr. soon

I spotted at 6 weeks for over a week! It was scary! Anyways went to the ER on the 7th day of spotting and had an ultrasound, turned out there was nothing wrong and they couldnt see why I was bleeding. It went away but came back a month later for one day. If you have an US and they dont find anything I wouldnt worry. I remembe worrying like crazy to the point that I felt like I would lose the baby. I regret spending the first trimester in a state of worry because I now have a 7 week old baby girl who is healthy.

SS, I also wanted to note that sometimes after sex or pap smears the cervix can bleed.

A fetal pole is typically not seen until 5-6 weeks. Heartbeat at 6-7 weeks.

Decidual bleeding is not uncommon at all. I had mild brown spotting with my first and fourth. I freaked out with ds2 even though I knew it wasn''t something to worry about. I was checking toilet paper throughout my entire pregnancy. My doppler came in handy. Even after seeing the heartbeat I still needed ongoing reassurance and it helped a lot. I used it the most with my first and last baby.
