do you appraise set diamonds?
Say i wish to have an appriasal done before recieving a "Mark Morrell" creation?

I am sure that Rich can appraise both set or unset diamonds. Unset gives more accuracy and details, but a good appraiser can hanlde it either way in nearly every instance.

If a diamond is really covered up by a setting design, then there is increased difficulty in grading and describing the diamond correctly. Most solitaire rings do not create that issue.
