For all the straight haired ladies...I need your help!

Well, I tried the braids and bun overnight, but my hair conquers all!!

This is the result of that experiment, about two hours after I woke up (it's hard to take pictures of one's own back!) so tonight I'm going to battle the twisty thingies. Wish me luck!

I also have long, layered 'Asian-type' hair. I've had straight hair all my life. Then, last Oct, I decided to do a digital perm. I love it. It has been 6 months and the curls are just amazing. Maybe you can try doing a digital perm? If I don't do anything after I wash my hair, the hair will look like beach wavy. If I want it to be MORE curly like the effect of a curling iron, I'll separate my damp hair into two sections, then wind and twist the hair of each section together. Then I'll secure it with a claw clip. It's amazing.

Oh my....I want all you ladies straight silky hair as I got this ugly frizzy curly hair. 'sigh' I look like I got a digital perm my whole life So I guess it's reversed as everyday I wake up and straighten my hair with the flat iron and put a crapload of products in to keep the frizz and curls controlled. If it rains the humidity brings out the nasty curles

Im late to this, and Im sorry if this has been suggested because I didnt read all the posts..Ive got super long, thick, straight/wavy in some spots hair. When I want it really wavy/borderline curly, I wash my hair at night and immediately braid it into a few braids and sleep with it like that. If its not dry in the am, usually isnt, Ill take a blow dryer to the braids for a few minutes. Thats the only thing that really works for my hair. The only other way I ever style my hair (besides braids and basic pony tail) is with a straight iron, they are amazing for the stick straight-smooth look.

Thanks autumn! Whilst I'd love curls, I'd settle for volume like yours..

Breezy - A perm isn't right for me, I do enjoy having wash and out the door hair, especially during grant season though a natural one like yours setell would work just fine

scts - believe it or not, my hair at the bottom of the first page is from the morning after moussing it and braiding it wet, and sleeping on it!

hey yssie, i second the caruso recommendation, but you have to use product to hold it b/c otherwise it will not stay the whole day. did you try the small twisty pincurls - i did it once for my sis who has super straight thick hair and she actually ended up with a huge, "afro" type style because i did the pincurls too tight... so be careful! here's a link to show you what i mean, but instead of using bobby pins which would make sleeping uncomfortable, we used cut up pieces of pantyhose, they were perfect to tie the picull, just cut across the "leg" so you have the round circles, then they stretch out nicely and you just use it like you would a tie.

also, when braiding, i've had better luck doing multiple french braids that are tight. I like pincurls better because braids give a "crimpy" look.
