Follow-up to negotiating question

Everyone - Thank you so much for your help. Great advice so far.

Here are the exact specs (for some reason I put in the wrong price during my initial posting):

For the stone alone: Asscher: 1.51 FSI1 - $9500

This asscher is very much like the old original asschers and not like the square emerald (a lot of facets).
The flaw is minor and can''t be seen by the naked eye (especially with all the facets).

Do I have room to negotiate?

If you do I dont think it would be much. F in color is pretty high and justifies the higher cost IMO. You can always ask but dont be put off if they say no.

I just did a PS search for F, SI1, 1.5 asscher...and they were all like 9300, so you really dont have much wiggle room. Seems liek you have a great price for the stone, so if you like the looks of the asscher, go for it.

IS there a GIA report on the diamond?

I am answering from home, but I will be happy to check the price tomorrow

David brings up a good report is the diamond certed by any one? I would look for AGS or GIA.

Hi Simpson,
I do not like to advise abandon when purchasing- there are a lot of potential pitfalls- I''d love to look at the GIA report to get a better picture....BUT.....

IF it is a well cut diamond, and you love it, and feel comfortable with the seller, and their policies- the price is good.

Can you negotiate??
Possibly, a little.
My opinion- and I follow this when we buy- is that if you can beat the seller up for a few precentage points- and you value the relationship- don''t haggle- the price is good.
If a guy is asking $12 for a diamond he''ll accpet 9 for, welll, I don''t want to be buying from that guy.
