After my ill-fated attempt to find a stone in Charlotte, I took everyone''s advice. I contacted Union Diamonds and they are hodling a stone for me. Tell me what you think:

Still not GIA, but EGL certed. Beautiful plot:

1.70 ct, VS2

7.84 x 7.80 x 4.62

TD: 59%
TW: 58%
Crown Height: 12%
Pavillion Depth: 43%
Girdle: medium, faceted

P/S: EX/EX
Culet: None
Fl: None

Comments: "Excellent Ideal Cut" "8 Hearts & 8 Arrows"

Can anyone tell me where this was certified, cert begins T-28047392.

Price: $9577

Thanks again,
Brad

What is the color? The main problem with EGL is that you don''t really know if the cert is accurate or not. You may be looking at EGL to save money, but the reality is that you generally get what you pay for.

H color. Would love suggestions. Trying to stay under or around 10k.

No problem! Ok so we have your budget, is this for the diamond only, or does it need to include the setting? What colour range do you prefer and clarity? What is the minimum size you are willing to go for?

Does not include setting. Would probably be looking for something similar to the A. Jaffe 1403 model or trying to get close to the tiffany novo band (solitaire with a band of channel sets).

Mainly looking for eye-clean VS or SI1. Color, I would prefer to stay above an H unless someone suggests higher/lower. At the jeweler, it was hard for me to differentiate E, F, G, H. Could just barely tell the difference E to H.

Feel free to mock me for that comment....

Also, based on all of your comments, cut is important to me. I have been using the "tools" on the website to help with finding that magic number. Honestly, I didn''t realize what a difference it made in performance.

Thanks all.
