So, what would look better for a small halo around a 1.00 carat RB, single cuts or full cuts? The halo on my Legacy ring is .01 full cut diamonds and they really sparkle. I had always thought that full cuts were preferred but now I have learned that I might have thought wrong.

Thank you!!

For a modern RB, it now becomes a personal preferance. You can''t go wrong either way with full cut or single cut melees. Just enjoy what you have.

Well see, that''s just it. I don''t have anything yet. So, input would be appreciated. :-)

I completely agree - totally a personal preference. But perhaps also depends on the setting? ie. singles for repro or antiquey stylle settings, full cuts for sleek or chunky modern deisgns. (inho).

Isabelle, do you know who by/what your design will be yet?

Hi Arjun,

I do not know yet. I think I will talk to WF soon. What I am leaning toward is a solitaire type setting, but perhaps with a diamond halo somewhat like the Tacori, but not that same crown setting. I am wanting prongs. I currently have four prongs, which I preferred 12 years ago. Now I am wondering if I want six or eight. The thing I really dislike about my setting is the prongs. They are severe. They do not look artful at all. I LOVE the WF prongs and MM prongs. But one thing I was considering was getting a halo to make the stone appear a bit larger. This can be tricky b/c sometimes halos just distract from the center stone and become counterproductive. Confused...

The RB halo at WF made the center diamond look bigger.

Oh sweetheart, I hear ya!
in the last couple of months, I have "fallen in love with", then moved on from probably 10 styles, including: A Jaffe settings; a chunky Michael Bondanza ring (facetfire's), which I almost purchased; to halos. Now I am in love with the delicacy of Leon Mege's work (like everyone else lol!).
Despite my indecision, I feel comfortable purchasing something like that as I know it will suit my style and more importantly my hands - as I have small and very short fingers, I learnt that a halo or chunky ring will just not work IRL, especially if I want to add a w-band.

I know its a cliche, but I think there's no better way to decide than to try on as much as you can..plus its fun!

I agree with you that the right prongs can make a lot of difference. And i really like the WF halo, it looks lovely IRL too.

Thanks ARjun. You know what I am going through then. Since you have seen the WF halo IRL, could you also give your opinion to me on some WF rings I have narrowed down my search to? I went into great detail on this on the new topic "Mrs. Salvo and Sevens One...your opinions please". I directed to them b/c they seem to know a lot about WF. Of course, a lot of people on here do as well! I would really love to get your opinion as well Arjun, along with anyone else who might have some input. :-)

I still have these stones in my pocket and in most lighting there is nothing much in it.
Until we do the tests with equivalent diamond cut quality it would be unfair to say this or that is better.
But certainly diamonds selected with an ideal-scope stand out
