If it's yellow or orange fluor, then it can make the stone look yellower.
If blue, it's probably okay so long as it doesn't cause an oily or hazy look, or doesn't look too violet in certain lights. Blue fluor works a little like laundry bluing: Can make whites look whiter. So, it can make certain stones face up whiter but you'd still see tint from the side, most likely.
Fluor also lowers the cost or the diamond a little. There's more info on that in the numerous threads.
That is so cool!finallylooking said:I'm biased but I love my very strong blue! Here's a couple pics. The first was on a cloudy day and the second was in bright bright sun. Sometimes it actually almost looks periwinkle, which I love. Its white any other time!
Edit- She's graded G color

I agree, except that an I colour stone with blue fluor out in the sun should not show any tint from the side. Out in the sun, an I colour stone with flour should look whiter all around. I've had a few stones with fluor, med and strong, and have seen many others and this is what I've observed. Indoors, lower colour stones would still show a slight tinge, again all around and not just from the side. But of course very well cut stones should face up whiter than less well cut stones (regardless of the fluor) indoors and outdoors, and slightly less white from the side.
Also, a stone wtih very srong blue flour would most prob show a slight blue/ purple tinge in the sun. With MBF, you almost can't really see any blue/ violet tingee unless you know what to look for. With SBF, you may notice a tinge but it won't be as obvious as VERY SBF.
OP, I personally love the fluor effect, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. You will find that a lot of PS'ers love this effect too
I believe with D-E-F, even G-H tones, blue fluor helps to reduce pricing, but am not sure about I-J and further down the scale. I suspect fluor may not make a difference and *might* even in some cases raise the price, simply b/c blue bluor would make slightly tinted stones look whiter.

OP here's another picture. Keep in mind its on the phone so its a really awful picture (or I'm just bad at taking them). This is under fluorescent light at work. About the white she is normally. The side stones are GH color, as well. I swear they're perfectly white in person.

This so makes me curious about getting a diamond with Flour in it to play around with it!![]()
