For a five stone round anniversary ring (each stone .50-.60), are G-H, VS2 stones acceptable, or should I aim higher? Also, jeweler says that it would be possible to get individual GIA certs for each stone, but it''s not worth it in his opinion. Do you agree?

One more question-anybody have an A. Link and Co. lattice anniv ring? (it''s a "U" shape setting, really pretty) (I''d attach a link, no pun intended, but don''t know if that''s allowed here)

Thanks!

I''ve heard that "smaller" stones don''t tend to come with certs but can''t recall the range. Doing a quick search on Whiteflash and Good Old Gold, their stones in that range tend to be AGS...

Whiteflash A Cut Above

Whiteflash Expert Selection

Good Old Gold

I''m no expert, but IMVHO I don''t think you need to aim higher... your eye isn''t likely going to notice any difference with higher clarity (the only time I would is if I was putting a diamond in a setting to show off the side view, but even then I would take it on a diamond by diamond basis). I might aim for F-G in color just for my own peace of mind (I''ve selected an F color and eyeclean SI2 diamond from GoG) BUT I have seen MANY pictures here of Pricescopers with GORGEOUS white diamonds with I, J and even K color while at the mall I have seen yellowish H color- The cut is all the difference! And really, with Whiteflash or GoG, I don''t think you have much to worry about- just tell them your specifications and you can trust them... do a search here of people who have purchased diamonds and 5 stone rings from them as well as other trusted vendors here.

Hi Molls,

Wow, 50 to 60 pointers?! Are you sure they will all fit across your finger? Can''t wait to see it!

I agree with what''s been said here. I would stay in the G VS2 range - Tiffany uses G color diamonds for their bands, and you''ll be guaranteed eye clean stones at VS2.

If you want to aim higher, I suggest going for the highest cut possible. That will give you the most bling for your buck. But it sounds like you''ll have enough bling as it is!

If it costs a little extra for the GIA certificates, it might be worth it for your piece of mind. Then you will never have any doubt.

Good luck!

Yes that is what my band is G/VS2, and I think it looks very nice...of course my stones are much smaller!
