Hello all,

I''m one of those guys that have been lurking for awhile, trying to learn about diamonds in preperation for an eventual engagement. I''ve had a tough time learning about princess cuts, but finally met with a reputable dealer I read about on these boards. I think I found a good stone, but more opinions would make me feel better. What do you think? Not as big as I had hoped, but within budget. I''ve done some comparison checks online and it seems to be a reasonable price.

From the GIA report...
Cut: Square Modified Brilliant
Carat: 1.19
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Polish : Exellent
Symetry: Very Good
Table: 69%
Depth: 71.7%
Girdle: Thick-Slightly Thick
$4850

Can you request an ASET image and post it here?

Hi jr

Can you post the following please if available -

-photographs
-ASET image
-Idealscope image
-Sarin report

If you have any of the above images and tools that would be very helpful then we can go from there. If you wanted to go larger then you could look at SI clarity grades if verified eyeclean by a trusted vendor.

I dont have any images unfortunately, so maybe you can''t give much of an opinion. I looked at it through the idealscope in person, and from what I understand it looked pretty good. It definitely was the best of the three he picked for me. Lots of dark red....

Without images our hands are tied so to speak yes, but we can still help where we can. What I would suggest if there is a Jreds closeby, go and look at their AGS0 Peerless Princess, that will give you an idea of how Princess of known cut quality look, then you will have an idea of how this one compares. Have you looked at many diamonds or are you just starting the search?

I''ve looked around online, but just started looking in person.

Ok, take your time and compare as many stones as you can, normally the Princess in the mall jewellers etc are of '' commercial'' cut quality, so do try to view some AGS0 Princess if you can so you will see how good it can get for Princess beauty!

I''ve tried to avoid the malls stores thus far, just don''t feel like dealing with the pushy sale people. I went to Mark at ERD, and considered stopping at some of the other places on 47th street but the atmosphere was a big turnoff. I guess I could deal with a few mall stores just to get a comparison. Have to get mentally prepared first though...

Thats useful as you are in the NYC area, here are a couple of places to try, with all the following vendors you will need an appointment.

www.exceldiamonds.com also www.jamesallen.com have offices in NYC.

If you don''t mind a trip to Long Island, www.goodoldgold.com would be well worth a visit.

Dont forget
