Hi,
i have finally decided to go with princess cut ( as u all suggested - i went to a jewelery shop and tried a few shapes- i liked round but doesnt fit my budget so liked princess the 2nd best)
What do u say about this stone - this is the first one i liked! They do not have ideal cut in princess so going with Very good cut! From what i have read thick griddle is not good...this one is thick! Also it says " Square 'modified' brilliant -- what does 'modified' implies here?

Earth, you might be able to find a round to fit the budget depending on size, colour and clarity choices.

As for this diamond, it isn't possible to properly evaluate it without images which BN don't provide. Also the girdle is undesirable being thick to very thick, this can waste weight in some cases and make a diamond look small for the weight.

If you give us your budget for the diamond and the size and quality you want, would you like us to suggest some stones for you?

If you want a round don't settle for a princess. There are rounds in all price ranges and princess stones usually size up a little smaller than rounds because they are cut deeper.

Are you limited to BlueNile or are you open to other internet vendors?

That would be great !! past 2 weeks i m going insane...i am choosing diamonds even in my dreams - seriously!!
My budget is $4000-4500 for the ring in platinum. which leaves me with just around $3000 for diamond.. as i m in love with a setting in blue nile which is for $1200

Ok, lets see what we can find!

Here you go, check the prices of the setting from the vendors listed, the price for what you want might be comparable.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1274557.asp request an Idealscope image if interested.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/F-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1213292.asp check this one is eyeclean and that the cavity noted is not a potential durability issue.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1276697.asp this one has an angle combo that definitely needs Idealscope, although you can't judge properly from a photo, the loupe image looks better than I would expect, possibly due to longer lower girdle facets and overall cut precision. Check it is eyeclean also.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1279365.asp idealscope would be needed for this one.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1193212.asp this one might be showing a slight amount of obstruction ( visible darkening of the stone due to head/ object shadow blocking the light) - again the loupe image doesn't give that much info but Idealscope or one of the James Allen gemologists would tell us more.
